• Advertising Review:

  In February 2022, BBB contacted J & F Auto Wholesalers regarding claims in its advertising.
  
  According to the BBB Code of Advertising, business names must not contain words that would mislead consumers either directly or by implication. A business name can use the term “wholesale” or “wholesaler” where the advertiser actually owns and operates or directly and completely controls a wholesale or distribution facility which primarily sells products to retailers for resale.  BBB requested that the business substantiate the use of the term "Wholesalers" in its company's name. In their response, the business stated that approximately 50% of its sales and service work is wholesale to other dealers. However, the business did not provide substantiation for the use of the term wholesale in its business name, which would require that it primarily sells products to retailers for resale.
  
  The statement "Quality at Wholesale Price" appears under vehicle descriptions. The term “wholesale price” can be used where they are the current prices which retailers usually and customarily pay when they buy such products for resale. BBB requested that the business provide substantiation that the prices it is selling at are comparable to those charged by wholesalers in its trade area. The business responded the it offers "..the best prices around, and that is what it means to us when we say "Quality at Wholesale Price;" however, the business did not provide substantiation that the prices it is selling at are comparable to the prices offered by wholesalers.
