I met with Viktor Q**** on 07/07/22 and discussed some work to be done in a kitchen my son in law had gutted to the studs and sheetrocked as a side job. Eventually my son and I agreed I needed a kitchen (beern several months) and that i should hire a contractor who could come and finish the job asap. What i needed from Viktor was: 1. Finish sheetrocking around a wall radiator , tape, compound and prime the entire kitchen, with previously installed dry wall. Paint ceiling. 2. Buy and install a solid door going from kitchen to basement 3. Buy and install 2" 3/4 trims for doors and window. 4. Build a 15"w x 96"H closet using sheetrock, 2x4s and wood doors 5. Buy and install subway tiles as backsplash, once cabinets and counter tops got installed by another professional, and hook up all appliances. All electrical and plumbing had been already done by my son. I explained my urgency and Viktor agreed he could do the job but needed $3k right away to buy materials. He was also supposed to send me a written contract, which I requested both verbally and through text. After getting paid, Viktor became unresponsive and unreliable. Never showing up when he said he would, without as much as a phone call to let me know his plans had changed, yet again. After several back and forths and once I finally threatened to back off from the deal, he showed up and completed what is listed on item 1 and bought 5 pieces of mdf 2" 3/4 molding, which is still sitting on the floor. Nothing else has been done and he won't return phone calls or texts. He only did once I said I was going to the police and wanted my balance back. Taping, compounding and priming a small kitchen shouldn't cost $3,000.00. His reply was that his expenses in doing what is listed on item one exceeded $3k. He lied in the beginning saying he was friends with ppl I've known my entire life and so I felt comfortable giving him the money before having a written agreement. It turned out to be a lie.
