I am lodging a complaint against Cardiology Associates of Fairfield County, ******** **********, and *** ****** ** ******* for mistreatment during my recent medical visit. On March 10, 2023, I visited *** ********* office which is located at **** ****** *** *** ***** ******** ** ***** for a routine checkup and stress test. I was informed by the office stuff that my insurance approved the test at their facility. Upon arrival I was given documents to sign without explanation. I wasn't aware of the association between the doctor’s office and ***** ******* *******l. The billing was processed as if the test took place at the hospital, not at the doctor’s office. To my astonishment, I received an invoice from ******** ********** charging me $3,023.03 even though *** ********* office assured me of full coverage with insurance pre-approval. I contacted my insurance, who revealed that *** ********* office submitted a bill through ******** **********, using the code which is stating that the test was done at the hospital, not the office (which is manifestly erroneous). I believe the following are responsible: Cardiology Associates of Fairfield County, ******** ********** & *** ****** ** *******. My claim is as follows: 1. Failure to disclose billing practices: They should have informed me that billing would originate from the hospital and expenses wouldn't be covered. I would have sought an alternative covered by insurance. 2. Misinformation to the insurance company: They inaccurately conveyed that the test was preventive at the office, however when billing they used the code as if the test was done at the hospital. This led to insurance approval and after the fact of wrong billing to disapproval. The office should have provided correct information about their billing practices to the insurance company and informed me of insurance disapproval before the test. I request the Better Business Bureau of Connecticut to investigate my complaint against them for a fair resolution.
