I am filing this report to share an unethical, and illegal selling practice with this company, Caruso Pianos of Connecticut . On January 16, 2022 I responded to an Internet advertisement for a Steinway Grand B piano FOR SALE on the CarusoPianos.com website. I inquired about more information and purchasing the piano from the salesperson, Brian Biddle. I have correspondence, both texting and emails, wherein he led me to believe the piano was available to purchase. This continued for over 48 hours when he then notified me that the piano (Steinway Model B, 1999, Serial number 547192, Ebony Satin) had a "deposit" on it, but the purchaser had been late in paying for the piano in full per an agreement. This lack of action by the potential buyer, according to Mr. Biddle, caused them to put the piano back on the market for active selling. Apparently, they kept the deposit from the first buyer when they took this action. My discussions with Mr. Biddle, verified through the communication documentation, shows that he stated he could return the deposit from original buyer and then allow me to purchase the piano. After much stalling on Mr. Biddle's part, finally on January 19, I was informed that the piano's final payment was received from an International buyer. In other words, they notified this original buyer that their delay in payment per terms caused them to openly sell the piano and there was another interested party, and the final payment would need to be paid or they would lose their option to purchase. I was used. The active deceptive of advertising a piano that had a deposit as actively available is against all ethical advertising practices and laws exist preventing companies from behavior such as this. I will be filing a complaint to both Steinway and Sons, Inc. as well as the state of Connecticut on this company's behavior and I suggest every person considering a purchase from them recognize their questionable and illegal selling tactics.
