    ******** *** ****** ***** * ********* **** * ***** * ***** ***** ******* ****
    Towed: Anthony's High tech
Today I called regarding my dad’s vehicle that was towed from an accident he could’ve lost his life. I was speaking to the person who answered the phone KJ and I told her that he was unable to grab his belongings out the car yesterday. She called me stupid and said “ ***** did you see the car was turned the wrong direction on the highway they have to move the car , you can come see me I’m here till 5:00pm you ****** dumb *****.” And proceeded to say she didn’t care about my father’s car accident. then passed the phone to Michael who started saying “ I got your belongings and your car lalalala” although she did try to threaten me to come in person I told her I’m not stupid to go and catch a charge for her ignorant comments. It’s very disgusting how this is the place we are forced to tow the car to. It’s also very disgusting how she’s able to speak to customers in this tone and threaten a pregnant customer to come and see her and fight her when all I was asking for was my belongings. I need my house keys and business keys my kids have belongings and ventilators for his asthma that are now stuck because we don’t have access to the house. they don’t want to give us the belongings before junking the car. This is who we keep in business and who is allowed to serve the community after facing a life threatening accident. If the car is in ******* why is she threatening me to come see her in person all the way in *******. It’s sad that this is who is able to work. I also am contacting my lawyer to get my belongings. They showed no sympathy for the accident nor empathy whatsoever.

I am filing a complaint regarding Anthony’s Hightech Auto Center Inc. in ******** **, for excessive and seemingly unjustified fees related to the towing and storage of my ******* Stretch Limousine, towed on November 6, 2024.
    1. Excessive Hook Fee: I was charged $240 for the hook/tow, while *********** law generally caps this fee at $125 for vehicles under 10,000 pounds (CT Gen. Stat. § 14-66(b)). My 18-foot limousine does not exceed light-duty vehicle limits, making this charge seem inflated.
    2. Unnecessary Dolly Fee: I was billed $180 for dollies, though my vehicle was fully operable and had no flat tires, so dollies were unnecessary. This charge appears to be an added, unjustified expense.
    3. Excessive Labor Fee: I was charged $87.50 for 0.5 hours at a rate of $175 per hour. *********** regulations require fair charges, and this rate seems excessive given that no additional labor was required.
    4. Storage Fees: I was charged $26 per day for five days, totaling $130. *********** law requires that storage facilities be accessible during reasonable hours. I’m concerned I was billed for days when the facility may have been closed or inaccessible.
    5. Arbitrary Fee Increase: The initial invoice was $500, but the company raised it to $700 based on perceived attitude, without any additional services. This increase appears punitive and arbitrary.

These charges reflect a pattern of exploitative practices. I am seeking BBB assistance to investigate and address these concerns, as I believe these practices are unfair and harmful to consumers. I have audiovisual evidence of everything I said. Just, let me know where to send it, and I will provide it

    Sincerely,
    ******* *********

    ******** ** *** ********* ** *********

    **** *** **********

Thank you for your efforts in mediating this serious matter. This communication intends to clarify and emphasize the factual, proven misconduct by Anthony's High Tech Auto Center, Inc., which involves clear instances of fraud and extortion, directly impacting my livelihood and residence. I would like to add more context. This vehicle also served as my primary residence before it was towed. I'll be by Anthony's tonight to go sleep in my vehicle as is my right. They have no right to deprive me of my living situation and the legalese below affirms that truth according to *********** state statues. I also would like to point out that they already admitted to this fraud by changing the bill because it was indeed fraud. See the attached photo of the adjustment they did which was an admission of guilt. They are still in the wrong because the remaining charges are still in excess of the state's requirements.

    1. Demonstrated Fraud:
The adjustment of the towing invoice by Anthony's High Tech Auto Center to a $125 charge for vehicles under 10,000 lbs GVWR constitutes a direct admission of their initial fraudulent overcharging. This action confirms their acknowledgment of intentionally levied incorrect charges, constituting fraud under ***** Gen. Stat. § 53a-119. This statute defines fraud as intentionally misrepresenting information to mislead another party, precisely what occurred when Anthony's High Tech Auto Center issued the original, inflated invoice.
    2. Explicit Extortion:
Following their acknowledgment of the overcharge, any attempt or threat by Anthony's High Tech Auto Center to revert to the higher, unfounded fees constitutes extortion. As per ***** Gen. Stat. § 53a-119b, extortion involves compelling another through the use of threats or coercion to deliver property or money. By leveraging the return of my residence (the vehicle) against inflated payments, they are engaging in coercion, which is prosecutable under state law.
    3. Unlawful Withholding of Property:
The refusal to allow me access to the vehicle—effectively my home—without a justified or legal basis is not only unethical but illegal. This action contravenes ***** Gen. Stat. § 14-145, which mandates specific protocols for towing and storage. Their conduct borders on unlawful restraint and theft, given that it deprives me of my lawful residence and personal property.
    4. Inevitable Legal Consequences:
The actions of Anthony's High Tech Auto Center have already set in motion a chain of potential civil and criminal outcomes. They face civil liability for damages arising from their fraudulent and extortionate practices. Furthermore, criminal charges for fraud and extortion are not just potentialities but imminent, given the clear evidence of their misconduct. The implications of these actions are severe, including substantial financial penalties, legal fees, and irreparable damage to their professional reputation and operational license.
    5. Demand for Immediate Compliance and Rectification:
Immediate corrective action is non-negotiable. Anthony's High Tech Auto Center must permanently adjust their billing practices to align with legal standards and ensure no future occurrences of similar violations. Additionally, a formal acknowledgment of their wrongdoing and a plan to prevent future incidents is required to mitigate the legal repercussions they now face.
    Conclusion:
The facts of this case are indisputable and demand a response commensurate with the severity of the infractions. I expect a swift and just resolution that reflects the serious nature of the violations and upholds the legal standards designed to protect consumers.
Thank you for your urgent attention to this grave matter. I await your prompt response.
    Sincerely,
    ******* *********

On 10/30/23, my car was towed from my residential complex due to not having a permit in the window. On 10/31/23 I contacted the tow company and was told the charge is $495.17 and that I am only allowed to pay in cash. Upon further review of ** towing charges and laws, my understanding is that I am paying for $125 for the tow/hook fee and $5.65 for each additional mile after 2 of the loaded miles which should've been around $249.30, it also states that towing company's must provide an option to pay cash or card. This company told me they only accept cash for private properties. The impound invoice I received included a fuel surcharge, a dollies charge, and an admin fee. Upon reviewing the maximum towing charges approved by the commissioner of moter vehicles, it states that the base tow charge for vehicles under 10,000 lbs includes at no extra cost to the consumer, all services necessary to prepare the vehicle for the tow. I am not sure why I was charged $170 for dollies and no explanation was given. I also am unclear on why they only accept cash.

After receiving my vehicle, I immediately noticed damage on the passenger rear end bumper of my car. I was told that the damage was there before the towing which it was not. I asked for the date/time that the photo was taken and they refused to share this information. I later called to ask for their insurance company's information and the woman stated that they did not share that information because the driver stated he didn't do it. I told her I would like to file a claim with their insurance company and the insurance company can determine if their driver was at fault. I was then transferred three times to a voicemail and was not given the insurance company's information.

I am concerned that this company is being fraudulent in their practices and are not adhering to ** towing laws. I would like the contact information for their insurance company and an understanding of what the Dollies charge was for.

    Good morning,

In researching this claim, it is not Lombard Motors who towed this vehicle.  In the customers photos the tow ticket reads Anthonys Hightech *** *****.

I can reach out to find out more information about this with Anthony's
