2/13/25 my car was towed from a business I was at conducting business. Try to get it resolved march 11th 2025 with the owner of cross country automotive. To no resolution. Even had the nerve to say I wasn’t a customer. When the sign literally says customer parking only. I will be providing proof of the tow that I paid as well as the place of business I was at.

Around 10:00 PM I pulled into my parking lot where I have an updated parking sticker. I pulled in to the lot, put my hazard lights on and ran into my apartment. When I came back out no more than 15 minutes later a tow company was hooking up my car and said I parked in an illegal spot. I called my property manager and put him on the phone with the tow truck driver and the property manager told the driver that I was allowed to park there it was no problem. The driver told my property manager I’m parked illegally and they are going to tow my car unless I pay cash for them to leave it despite what the property manager said. There are no signs stating ”no parking allowed” anywhere on the private property.

    Hello,

According to the contract with the property management all vehicles must be properly parked.

If a car is parked with hazard lights on we give them a grace period, but that is not for extended parking.

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: The driver/ company does not know what time I parked my car to allow for an accurate "grace period." When I came back out to my car the driver had just started to hook my car up and the hood of my car was still hot, it was not left for an extended period of time. I put your driver on the phone with the property manager who told him I was ok to be parked there and your driver told him he did not care he is taking my car unless I pay $125 to drop it. Also, the ticket/ receipt said I was in a tow zone. There are no visible signs stating "no parking" nor are there any markings indicating a fire/ tow zone. I have video evidence if requested.

    Sincerely,

I am unaware of what time the tow occurred but by 6pm when my spouse got home from work, he informed me that my car was missing from our driveway. We are the only tenants as it is a 1 family home. Therefore, we are the only 2 vehicles registered to park at the home and we both have parking permit stickers on our windshields. I called the tow company listed on the sign on the front of our house and inquired about my vehicle (a gray 2015 ***** **, last 6 digits of VIN are ******) The driver informed me he did have it, I asked why as I know there is a sticker on it, he claimed there wasn’t, I asked him to double check, he told me to call back in 20 minutes when he arrived at the lot. I called back 20 minutes later and he went to check, he verified that there was indeed a parking sticker on the windshield but that it was “hard to see” (it took him less than 30 seconds to find it) and that I could dispute it with the office in the morning but if I wanted it back that night, I would have to pay. I immediately informed my landlord who said he would speak to the owner of the tow company. That led nowhere. They claimed again that the sticker was not there, I again said it was. When I arrived to pick up my car the following morning, they once again verified that the sticker was there but “not visible.” I am unaware how that is determined as it’s one opinion against another. I also am unaware how that is legal giving that there are no stipulations listed anywhere as to where the sticker should be affixed. I was forced to pay for my car. I attempted to file a police report but that also led nowhere. I am left feeling hopeless and wondering why there are no laws or protections put into place. My car was stolen from my home and I was forced to pay money to get it back 2 weeks before Christmas even though I had the correct documentation and a landlord to verify it.

Permits must be visibly placed on the windshield, the permit cannot be seen if it is placed at the top of the windshield in the only tinted area. When given the permit from management they were made aware the permit must be placed on the windshield in the lower left hand corner where there is no issues in seeing the full permit and its listed information.

I am rejecting this response because:

There is nothing in writing, either on the sign in front of my parking spot nor given to me with the permit, stating exactly where to place the sticker or what is considered visible. I am able to see the sticker with my eyes so I would assume anyone with eyes also could. Again, nothing in writing stating it needs to be in a lower corner. The correct sticker was in place and you stole a vehicle to make a quick buck. I will follow up in small claims court. Thank you.

    Sincerely,

I had my vehicle towed at a private parking lot that I live at. I had my window broken into twice already and I was in the process of getting a new parking ticket. I left a note on my windshield to call my number and that I do reside at that residence. Wasn’t notified at all after my car was towed, front receptionist was rude, charged me extra $50 because I showed up 10 min after 5 even though I called at 4:30 to let them know i’m on the way, and the receptionist said that it’s after her work hours and that she doesn’t have to be there, yet was sitting at the desk filling other paperwork prior to me getting there. It does not take a lot to not be money hungry ********. Charged extra $50 for extra handling because the car was a AWD and scratched my car on top of this. Denied the whole thing said it was there before but it was not. Total paid $300 for a few hour tow which is insane. On top of that they only take cash, and have you walk up the st to a ATM in a scary neighborhood. This place needs to be looked at, very unprofessional and sketchy.

On Monday, November 20, 2023 this tow company was trying to tow a van, the owners paid to have the van put down so the company then ran plates to find a car they can tow. The found a car that they could tow and the car was parked next to mine (**** ***** *****), in the process of towing that car they left a scratch on my back driver side door. This was on private property. I called the owner on Tuesday, Nov 21, 2023 and he stated if i could send pics/vids of proof because people have lied to him for payouts but if in fact I had proof he would take care of me. I sent the proof upon ending the call with him. I never heard back. I called his office again on Nov 27, and again on Nov 30 and left a mssg each time. On Nov 30 his dispatch told me he was away at a conference and would be back that Monday and would give me a call. I have not heard back.
This company doesnt even have tow signs on our property, there is signs with another companies name on it (****** ******). I recently had that side of my car painted and I sent pics proving that as well. I have pics to back all of this up, I want to be compensated for that repair as I do not trust my car with this business.

In response to the complaint, Cross Country Auto did reach out to ******* after receiving the photos. We communicated that the damage to her vehicle could not have been from the towing that was done on the property to another vehicle. There would be no way our truck damaged her vehicle in the spot that it is located. The damage would also be more than a scratch if it was caused by our towing service. This looks more like a shopping cart, or another vehicle door hit the vehicle which could happen anywhere. We have a contract with the property owners for several months now, we would have provided management signage upon them signing the new contract.

My vehicle was towed I was cursed out by front desk attendant. I was told I needed a copy of my title I contacted ******* *** and they sent me the title. After giving it to another lady at the front desk she took it to the back and another guy came out saying the title had to get faxed to ###-###-####. We had to drive around to get the fax we were never told it had to be faxed in directly to them. They kept our original paper work and refused to give it back because they need to keep it on file for the state trooper. Terrible experience this place needs to get shut down they don’t know how to run a business and they treat people like ****.
