In August 2021, BBB contacted Holland Hats regarding advertising claims on its website and Facebook pages. 

The following claims appear on its website: "Lowest Price Guaranteed!!! We Will Beat Anybody’s Price – Call For Details" and at its Facebook posts, including "...lowest prices online" and "Lowest Priced Brand Name Hats and Caps for Men and Women."
According to the BBB Code of Advertising, such claims can be tested and proven true or false. However, because it is impossible to keep a constant and up-to-date tally of all product prices from all competitors, advertisers can lessen the potential for consumer confusion by discontinuing these types of claims.  In addition, advertisements which set out a company policy of matching or bettering competitors' prices may be used, provided that the offer is made in good faith; the offer clearly and conspicuously discloses fully any material and significant conditions which apply including, if applicable, what evidence a consumer must present to take advantage of the offer; and the terms of the offer are not unrealistic or unreasonable for the consumer.  The business did not make any adjustments to these claims.

On its Facebook page, the business claims to have "..the largest selection of Tilley Hats. We carry every model, size, and color, we have the largest inventory ready to go, lowest prices online."  Because statements such as this can be proved or disproved, consumers may try to verify this 'largest' status by looking for data to confirm how the ranking was determined. Therefore, it needs substantiation or modification. The business did not substantiate or modify the claim.
