We signed a three-year contract with blackboard for services. The agreement with the representative at the time was that if we did not wish to continue after the first year, we did not need to do so. We found that the communication services provided did not fulfill our needs, therefore we called and told them we would not continue the services. At the same time, blackboard was being purchased by Finalsite. Final site saw that we had a three-year contract. The invoice for the first year hadn't been paid due to an oversight by a new bookkeeper we had. We paid the invoice, but also indicated that we were not going to continue services. Finalsite continues to contact us about the remainder of the contract. I have already explained to them multiple times that we had a verbal agreement with a representative and that we do not wish to fulfill the remaining two years on the contract. Additionally, they understand as well that the contract was not executed at the school district level, but at the school building level. Legally, they do not have a binding contract. They know this as well. They work with schools and they know that without a contract signed by The superintendent or their design, they do not have a binding contract. That is the only reason why I signed it in the first place, knowing that if we want it out after the first year, we could not be held to a three-year contract. We have made this abundantly clear, so I don't want any more invoices sent or any more phone calls. At this point, we consider it harassment.
