Next Level Chimney completed a chimney repair on my chimney in October of 2023 In April of 2024, I have discovered a leak on the interior wall adjacent to the chimney. After several exchanges of emails, the owner agreed to repair what was promised in the original contract: new flashing, replacing shingles, adding a new cap and repairing the broken crown he had told me needed to be rebuilt. I was asked to purchase shingles and the water barrier paper- something I paid for already. I was told the repair of the broken top will cost me $2100. Since they offered to install two attic fans (purchased by me), the total amount on the check was $3,300 – check number 1024 issued on May 22, 2024. This amount was in addition to the $7,000 paid in November of 2023. During the repair in May, the employee left the roof exposed (shingles were removed) and the roof was left unprotected. As a result, I had a significant water damage on the living room ceiling. The owner agreed to cover the cost of the replacement – the ceiling is damaged beyond repair. They completed the work on the chimney in May. Since I had family visiting me this summer, I told the owner, the ceiling replacement will need to wait. In September I have done an inspection of the chimney and discovered: the flashing was installed incorrectly, the chimney cap was installed incorrectly, and the top was left broken/rebuilt- details included in the attachment with a thorough inspection description. I have requested the owner to reimburse me for the additional repairs of the chimney in the amount of $4,549.55. The owner of Next Level Chimney agreed to reimburse me for these repairs. I have sent him the detailed invoice on October 16, 2024, another reminder on October 28, 2024, and no response from the owner. I expect the owner to reimburse me in the amount of the $4,549.55 currently. This is the amount I have paid to repair their repairs.
