In September 2023, BBB contacted Ethos Medical Aesthetics & Wellness regarding claims in its advertising. 

Its website states "We are trained in emergencies and complications. We are prepared with a large supply of hyaluronidase, a filler dissolving medication, steroids, epinephrine, benadryl, and other emergency medications and tools."  Its Facebook page states "At Ethos Medical Aesthetics, we bring together a team of highly skilled and passionate medical professionals dedicated to providing you with top-notch care. With years of experience and extensive training, our experts are equipped to offer you the latest cutting-edge treatments and techniques tailored to your unique needs."  BBB requested that the business provide documentation of any current certification or training for any staff in the event a client undergoing treatment experiences a medical emergency while in its facility, as well as any documentation showing that staff have been trained and/or certified in the administration of various treatments and in the use of devices such as lasers and radiofrequency microneedling. The business did not respond.

Its advertising includes many health benefit claims related to the treatments offered at its facility. Its website states "We use cutting-edge technologies and well-researched treatments to address common symptoms and complaints to help you achieve your goals in a safe, supportive, holistic manner."  According to the BBB Code of Advertising, claims relating to performance, energy savings, safety, efficacy or results for a product or service should be based on recent and competent testing or other objective data. For medicinal and therapeutic claims or claims to diagnose, treat, cure, mitigate, or prevent any illness or disease, scientific clinical evidence from human clinical trials is preferred to support these claims. Claims concerning overall uniquely formulated products also require testing on the combination of ingredients in the product. Specific ingredient claims also require substantiation.

"It also helps reduce blood pressure, stress on the heart, promotes healthy metabolism, and helps lower cholesterol." 
"A next-generation skin-tightener, clinically proven to improve the appearance of skin texture, pigmentation and wrinkles on the neck/décolleté area..The Proof: 90% Increase in Elastic Fibers..A blend of active peptides and key ingredients that works with the skin to help clear out damaged elastin and collagen and support the skin’s natural ability to produce new, healthy elastin and collagen."
The business did not provide substantiation, modify, or discontinue its claims. 

Its site indicates that some treatments and procedures are considered "Off-Label" or not cleared by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). For example, the business uses Botox “Off-Label” to "Reduce Jaw Tension/TMJ and slim the jaw muscle" and "Reduce Migraine frequency."  BBB requested that the business provide substantiation for health benefit claims in treatments and procedures considered 'Off-Label" or not cleared by the FDA and requested assurances that clients are adequately informed that these are not FDA approved, but did not receive a response. 

Its advertising includes "DISCLAIMER: Individual results may vary." The primary responsibility for truthful and non-deceptive advertising rests with the advertiser. In light of the many health benefit claims in its advertising, BBB suggested that this disclaimer should be discontinued or modified to clearly and conspicuously disclose the typical experience a consumer can reasonably expect or that the results depicted are not typical.  The business did not respond or make adjustments to this disclaimer.
