I recently had Big Jims Diesel and Automotive replace an engine that had expired. There were no LB7 duramax engines available in ******** salvage yards. I contracted Big Jimcouldnts to do the swap to a salvage yard engine i was told that they normally would not do a swap unless they got the engine through there sources but they agreed to do it as I had previous business with them. Long story short they swapped the engine. Upon picking it up I was told there was no warranty on the work which I had never been told before. There were various problems with the truck upon its return all of which could have easily been corrected during installation of the salvage engine which I had personally picked out in Minnesota that had low mileage. My issue with the job is they lied to me on various occasions. I had told them all of the fuel lines needed to be replaced the block heater needed replaced. The fuel lines they replaced after they couldnt keep it running to get it out the door. Once home I found out when left for a couple hours it wouldnt start again.thats when I was informed of the no warranty. There was never any time in this whole proocess that I was ever told there was no warranty on there work. I expected that on the engine but not there work which I have found out since was definitely substandard. Most of it I can deal with but the lies are unacceptable. Will never do business with them again and suggest anyone else make sure you get everything you want or need done in writing. I have an invoice that says nothing about no Warranty.Buzz Dolphin

Mr. ********** you were expressly informed there would be no warranty on the engine you bought because we did not purchase the engine. You are the sole reason plastered all over our wall now are signs that we will not install customer supplied parts. You purchased a complete engine online twice. We informed you that the estimate we gave you included only swapping the engine. We informed you we had no way to test any parts on an engine purchased online. This is why you were given an estimate to swap the complete engine. You were informed that any swapping of other engine parts would increase your estimate significantly. You Mr. ******* assured us that you purchased a great engine with no issues. We cannot possibly be asked to do warranty work on parts we did not purchase. Swapping of any parts not provided or purchased by our shop cannot even he labeled as warranty work because we didnt install or purchase them in the first place. Its just unreal how much people want for free in todays world. You are entitled to quality work for a fair price. You are not entitled to work for free. We installed your motor that you purchased. We have no liability to make sure it runs perfectly if you do not want to pay for the work. The engine was installed and driven off of our property. Obviously we did the install correctly, and obviously you bought substandard parts because you wanted to be cheap!
