I ordered and paid for, via telephone, a starter for my Kohler generator on 23 May 2025 for $301.26 (on my credit card) from ***** Small Engine repair. My generator *******, who had worked with ***** for many years, had recommended him. I was traveling for the next 3 weeks. In the interim, my ******* determined that I did not need a new starter. THE ORDER WAS NOT CANCELED. Once I returned, both my ******* and myself have worked regularly, extensively, persistently to get either the starter or the refund. ***** stated that he does not have the starter. He does not have the funds to refund me the money. He has procrastinated and used innumerable excuses. I have told him I want 100% of the refund. It was to be available this week - I went in today (50 mile round trip drive) - but, he did not have the funds.

****** hired man ordered and paid for the starter per stated. The mode of payment was a credit card. After they deemed that the starter was not needed she did stop in at our shop as she stated but wanted cash or a check and refused to give her credit card for a refund. We were not prepared to write a check and did not have the cash on hand. We ask her to come back at a later date and to let us know ahead of time when she was coming so we could be prepared.

RE: My complaint against Bruces Small Engine Repair

Fortunately, I kept notes concerning this interaction with this business.

***** is crucially incorrect in his statements.  Both my generator repair man (a long term former customer of *********************** and myself repeatedly asked for either the paid for part or a refund.  ***** was unable to provide either.  The part was purchased on 23 May 2025.  At least six attempts were made to ***** for refund or the part.  On 15 August, I had experienced enough obfuscation.  ***** never did have the part of the funds to refund me.  He offered a series of partial payment - but never had the money when I personally attended his store (a 45 mile drive each way from my home).  He had proven himself to be completely non-trustworthy nor transparent.  I was concerned that he would pay me some amount of funds, and deny the rest, or carry it out another indeterminate period of time.  For example, he would say he would have some funds the next week; I told him to reserve those funds, and procure the rest and I would pick up the total amount.  When I went to the store - he had neither the reserved funds nor any other.  I also refused him my credit card for refund as I considered him dishonest by this point.

His response is incomplete and dishonest.
