Our Summer 2024 CNS project was to replace the front deck, paint exterior brick trim, soffit and gutters, replace two solid-core exterior doors, storm door, and wooden screen door. It wound up taking two full seasons to complete. The first two items, to replace the front deck and paint, were completed well and on time. The doors, however, did not arrive until mid-October 2024. Both the screen door and the storm door arrived by late October. With the change of the seasons, we contacted CNS for soonest possible installation, to include painting and staining the new doors. We hoped this could be completed before daytime temperatures dropped too low. As late as November 22, we hoped that the project would be completed. In a telephone conversation, CNS advised us of yet more delay and on November 24, we proposed a seasonal delay until Spring 2025. CNS responded via email: “That's fine to wait until spring.” On re-contact in April 2025, CNS told us they were 'a couple weeks out'. We gave CNS all of May, June, July and all but three days in August. Despite our early discussions regarding prompt and complete communications, contact was minimal. Items which should have been included in the original contract were treated as unusual, oppressive and difficult to add. Several communications regarding staining an exterior door with a lighter stain (Maple) were ignored. The stain finally used (Cherrywood) was substantially darker than requested. This was brushed aside as simply "not perfect", not the wrong color. Through Summer 2025, CNS invoices were vague and consistently inaccurate, never specifying what charges were being incurred for what work. All but three days in September were also made available. CNS complained that we had cancelled scheduled work (not true) and accused us of 'gaslighting'. The final work was not completed until early October 2025. The door re-stain issue was simply dropped due to distrust in CNS’s competence. In short, we would not recommend CNS.
