Remodel of primary bath and kitchen counter & sink. Demo and remodel: Feb 14, 2024 - March 16, 2024.
The contractor blew out an outdoor electrical outlet while changing kitchen outlet switches/covers. Did not accept responsibility (said house wiring was 'crossed') and did not correct despite our requests.
The contractor did not change the water pipe valve for the new shower handle as I requested. This needed to be done so the valve would be compatible with the new handle set. When I used the shower for the first time, the handle was not secure - it was very loose. I called him about this, and he said there must be a missing part. He returned to our home and tried to fix the issue but could not - the handle would not sit correctly to be secured to the valve. He said he would try to find an alternate handle. Days later, he said we needed to call the shower set manufacturer and get a replacement. I asked him if he changed the valve as I had requested in the beginning, he said no, and that the 'valve is the correct size for the new handle set'. We cannot use the newly remodeled shower due to the contractor not correcting the issue of the loose shower handle lever.
The shower valve is original from when the house was built in 1998, and CLEARLY is not the correct size. The valve will need to be changed out which means tearing out part of the wall. This contractor is irresponsible and unprofessional. He does not care about his work, nor how he leaves homeowners with a job to correct and finish.

We have gone above and beyond to do our best to make sure they were taken care of and happy. We already have discounted the cost. Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

The contractor told us to contact Moen to obtain a replacement shower head set.  We did not need a replacement.  We needed the original shower valve to have been replaced when the wall was open to do so.  By not replacing the valve, as we discussed twice with the contractor, the shower head set handle would not fit even with a completely new set.  The contactor contradicts himself when he says they 'went above and beyond'.  He simply took short cuts and shorted us in the end.

The shower door still leaks at the bottom.  We had pointed out the leak to the contractor.  He attached the vinyl water block (which he left off), but cut off the bottom so it does not perform as it should.  As we look  more closely at the shower door installation, we see that it was installed crooked and incorrectly.  At this point, there is no way to fix his poor workmanship.

We hired a professional plumbing company to fix this contractor's 'work'.  We were told that the shower valve did indeed need to be replaced since that type is not compatible any longer with newer shower handles.

The contractor took short cuts and fixing his mistakes cost us more money.  We will still have to pay an electrician to fix the outlet this contractor blew out.   We could not be more disappointed in how this contractor handled our concerns.  It was one excuse after another....

Hello - Please see attached invoice that was paid the same day as the work was done.  It is not itemized but if that is needed, I will try to get that.  The verbal repair estimate that ******* ******** gave was $1400.00 to include labor, new valve and new shower handle.

There was no discount given.  We were overcharged based on hours billed versus what I tracked as the job was being done.  He overcharged us by 14 hours ($2000.00).

The contractor blew  out our outdoor electrical outlet and did not accept responsibility.  He said 'it is just old wiring'.  He made no effort to repair despite our request. We did not deny access, he had moved on to another job and did not have time to fix it.  We had to hire an electrician to do the work, which will cost us an additional $300.00
The contractor did not change the shower valve as we requested.  We asked what kind of valve we would need for the new handle set and he said 'I will get the right valve". Turns out, he did NOT change the valve and the new handle did not fit.  The shower remodel was done and we were not able to use the shower.  He told us to call Moen, but they could not help without a photo of the valve still in place.  The only way to get to the valve now was to tear out part of the wall.  The contractor said "the original valve looked like it would fit, so there must be a missing part".
He did not offer to fix the issue and was too busy to discuss further due to his new job.  We had to hire a plumber to fix the issue, which cost us an additional $1400.00.  The receipt has already been sent with my complaint.
The contractor has pretty words and flowery responses but his work poor and he is irresponsible.

The shower door, which cannot be fixed at this point, is crooked, and it leaks profusely at the bottom.  Since he hung the pivot door too low, the water block seal cannot be attached, so water flows out onto the threshold.  He also did not secure the fixed side of the shower door, as per the instructions.  That side is unstable.  He threw out the stabilizer piece without telling us, so we cannot have that appropriately attached to secure that side of the shower door.
A complete refund of his labor charges for the shower door 'install' is in order.
