We signed a contract for a new roof and some additional home repairs *** made an initial payment on 10/9 when the project kicked off. We were told there could be adjustments to the final amount due and that the final total would be confimred later torward porject completion. I was delivered a final invoice with the final amount due upon job completion on 11/14. This amount was lower than our original quote and when we questioned why, we were told it was because originally they had double charged us for solar installation work. When the job was 95% done on 12/19 they came out, reconfirmed the final amount (minus $300 for work still to be completed due to supply delays) and they took the final payment with the agreement thay we would pay $300 more when the job was finished. Then, 6 weeks later, they contacted us saying they had a billing error on our final invoice and are asking for $6k+ more from us. We do not belive this is right given we were delivered a final invoice and that they also verbally confirmed the final total at least 2 other times. We even shook on the completed deal when we wrote the last check on 12/19. They have now threatened to put a lien on our home unless we pay them extra money. This claim was all due to our home getting hit by a tornado and we were very clear up front that we were looking to minimize out of pocket costs. After they told us their price was less than what we originally agreed to, we put the funds we had initially set aside for them to other uses. It is unreasonable to demand $6k more many weeks after delivering a final invoice. Normal people dont just have that kind of money sitting around. Please help us with resolving this.
