Dear Better Business Bureau, I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the warranty service provided by Ricoh for the RI2000 white carriage head unit. Our warranty expired a few months ago, and since then, we have encountered significant issues with this product. Despite purchasing the same unit twice since the warranty expiration, at a cost of $2300 each time, we have experienced multiple failures necessitating replacement. It’s worth noting that the piece only carries a mere 3-month warranty, which in our opinion, is insufficient given the product’s high price point. Furthermore, we find it troubling that the company offers “refurbished parts” of the same piece, which are marketed by sales representatives. Additionally, these refurbished parts require us to send back the faulty unit upon purchasing the new one. This practice seems to indicate that the company may be refurbishing and reselling these units for $1900, potentially profiting from the inconvenience and expense faced by customers like ourselves. We believe that such a critical component of our printing system should come with an extended warranty period and should not suffer from frequent breakdowns. We urge Ricoh to reconsider its warranty policies and ensure the durability and reliability of its products. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
