I was informed by Nationwide today that our auto policy will not be renewed because of two no-fault claims in three years: a hit and run on my truck in 2021 and hail damage to my wife's car in 2022, both years ago now (the former mere months from their 3 year limitation). I have had Nationwide auto insurance for 46 years (per the rep I spoke to), and we have insured our home with Nationwide for nearly 30. I complained and the issue was escalated. The new rep, like the first one, contacted the underwriter and they still cancelled our insurance even though we had no knowledge there was a limit for claims that are not our fault (or that these could consist of just two in three years), no that matter our driving records are spotless, and no matter that these idiots will not only lose our biz for our cars but for our home. Since I assume there are other motives here other than a slavish adherence to a rule we did not even know exists (like our ages (and agism is illegal, so...: 67 and 71) and we would not have filed the last claim if we did, I can only assume Nationwide is utterly unethical. Avoid them like the plague!

The Nationwide team on this claim violated multiple ******** Statutes, and former case law, including the following. I will be submitting this claim to further review boards to understand how badly Nationwide handled this claim. CRS 10-3-1104 - In ********, the Unfair Claim Settlement Practices Act regulates how insurers should treat insureds. Insureds must provide the insured with a prompt explanation for how the claim is being decided based on the policy language, applicable law or unique facts of the claim. They owe the insured a procedural duty of good faith to keep the insured informed about the claim after conducting an unbiased investigation and evaluation. Insurers who deny or delay a payment of covered benefits without a reasonable basis, such as by not following industry standards, may face the penalty of paying their insureds twice the amount of the covered benefits (in addition to the benefits) plus attorney's fees and cost for such misconduct CRS 10-3-1115, ****. Also 7. The duty to conduct a reasonable investigation includes "a duty to promptly and effectively communicate with anyone [the insurer is] reasonably aware ha[s]...information pertaining to the handling of the plaintiff's claim." **** vs. American Family Ins., 251 P.3d ****, **** (******** Appellate Court 2010). The adjustor, ***********************, actually dismissed a water damage remediation crew at my home that I was paying for out of pocket upfront, while he was supposed to be there doing his good faith investigation by giving them information that he had NOT YET GIVEN TO ME that he thought the claim would be not paid due to mold. This hugely upset my renters, who could have sued me during this claim due to delayed mold remediation thanks to *************************** actions in dismissing the crew off the worksite during a booked workday. It also violated this statute to keep me informed. Even worse, I actually had a mold inclusion in my addendums that I finally got from my insurance broker, ******** Insur
