I was notified of a price increase to a service I was using in July 2025, notifying of a 4.5% increase (no actual amount was provided). The email follows with: "Your Formsite subscription will increase by 4.5% during your next billing cycle. We value your business and hope you continue receiving significant value from Formsite. If you have questions, please visit our ************* No notice that I was subscribed for an auto-renewal was included, nor was any notice of how I should unsubscribe if desired. Also I was not allowed to opt-in to the new pricing, and the timing was 38 days before the renewal was automatically processed. When notified of the charge that day (July 7 2025), I emailed the vendor to request cancellation and to get a refund for the mistaken charge. They refused to refund, saying their new terms and conditions (adopted when Formsite was acquired by Intellistack in the last year) require any cancellations to occur at least 30 days before the renewal date. I was certainly unaware of this policy, which is hidden in their Terms and Conditions. They also would not allow me to cancel over the phone, requiring me to go to their website and find the cancellation under the billing tab (not in the manage plan section, which is where it should be). I escalated the matter via email, and their billing director refused to reconsider, even after pointing out that VA statute 59.1-207.46 prohibited their actions and they were not meeting the requirements of the law regarding clarity, opt-in, etc.Relevant portions of the law: notice of renewal did not include: "offer terms, cancellation policy, and information regarding how to cancel"; a "clear and conspicuous notice of the material change and provide information about how to cancel";"conspicuous" disclosure of the automatic renewal, "the date by which the consumer must cancel," "the method by which the consumer must cancel," or "a copy of the automatic renewal or continuous service offer provisions"
