I booked a room online (and paid online) at the "Econo Lodge North Academy" in ****************. I only had about $80 in my account and the room was $70. I specifically looked for a room that had no security deposit because I knew I couldn't afford it. When I got to the hotel they said there WOULD be a security deposit of $80. I told them immediately I couldn't afford that and need to cancel the room. The hotel told me I had to go through Expedia to do that. When I explained the situation to Expedia they said they need approval from the hotel manager before they could get me a refund. They never got that approval and I still never got my money back. The hotel just refused to say that a manager was there whenever Expedia called so that they wouldn't have to refund me. Normally on Expedia it tells you right next to the total cost of the room whether there will be a deposit required. It didn't say that when I booked this hotel. They are saying that the cost of the room is non-refundable even tho I never even stayed there. They took my money and gave me nothing. I am a homeless man. I can't afford a lawyer. Once a week I get enough money for a cheap hotel room to shower and get cleaned up. It's not fair for them to take that away from me.
