We live out of town & I was waiting to meet my family for dinner, so I was wasting about an hour at the 8th Street Hobby Lobby. As I was leaving the checkout line, I heard a cashier say “Robert…..” I didn’t think anything of it at the time, and I pushed my cart towards the indoor cart stall. I was carrying two bags of wall art and my small "mini-backpack" style purse. I walked to my truck at the back of the parking lot, closer to the auto store, & put my bags in the back seat. When I got in my truck, I turned just in time to notice that a man was standing in front of the store taking pictures. He went back inside the store, so I went back inside too. There was three males & one female standing in a group at the front. I asked, “Is there a reason you’re taking pictures of my truck?” The older male (who was taking the pictures) & female (who I assume to be a manager, given the amount of keys she was carrying) were both very quick to say, “No you’re fine, there was a woman parked near you who was trying to steal, it's not you”. I was parked in the very back by myself so I could take up two spots with my oversized truck…. There was absolutely no one parked near me, and I saw no one else in the parking lot. I see from reading their Google and Facebook reviews that this is apparently a problem for this store. Their loss prevention team is awful - making assumptions & treating paying customers like common criminals. Not sure if it’s how I look or what made them act like that & then lie to me about it. In retrospect, the treatment I received from the cashier was less than stellar as well - in fact, she didn't even address me at all, even after I greeted her. My purse was wide open in my cart, she could see everything inside. I would have had no issue with them going through my bags if they really believed I was stealing but at no point did they ask me. I have worked loss prevention myself, and currently work in security.... your team needs a LOT of training, because right now they're simply an embarrassment. Do better.
