On May ****** I purchased a new ***** LC 500 from Reliable ***** Springfield MO for $127,317.00 it is now June 27, 2025 and I have never received license plates or registration both of which were paid for at the time of purchase. So for 2 months I have been stuck with a 127K car that I am unable to drive and it has lost 2 months of its new vehicle warranty, not to mention that I am paying insurance on it. When I contact Reliable ***** when I am able to reach someone because they will not return calls or text they deny any responsibility saying it the title companies fault or the state of Illinois DMV fault although they will provide no proof of it being taken care of ( tracking number, copy of check etc).Business Response

Hi *****,
We called the IL office this morning to double-check and they confirmed that there is nothing needed on this deal and that the document was validated into their system on 7/11/25.
The state procedures are to forward the registration to the driver's IL address on file a day or two after the application is validated via ***** There are of course sometimes delays in the mailing process, but you may want to check with the IL ************** and confirm that they have the valid and accurate address.
Thanks,
ATC

We purchased a new van from a ***** dealer in *********** ***** on 21 Dec 2024. We are active duty military so our cars are registered in our home state of **. This particular dealer uses *** for out of state registrations. Unfortunately, our issues echo everyone elses BBB complaints. *** will not speak directly with customers to provide updates and would not give us a timeline on an update to the dealer. In speaking with ***, they are incredibly defensive and will blame the state and the dealer for all their mishaps-of course, with no way to verify their claims. Per the county clerk, we know *** had sent both erroneous paperwork and a check for taxes with the incorrect amount. The state has been very transparent with processing times and the date they received paperwork from *** is recorded. The county clerk did not even receive our paperwork from *** for the first time until 7.5 weeks after the purchase of the van. We are on our third and final TX temporary registration extension with no license plate and no timeline for resolution at the end of March 2025. It seems as if *** has no oversight, accountability, or transparency in their processing, along with rude customer service to boot. I would strongly encourage any future auto buyers and active duty families registering cars to home of record to inquire if the dealership utilizes ATC. Strongly consider the resulting headache in dealing with ***. In the future, we will not purchase from a dealer who utilizes ***.Business Response

Thank you for providing your feedback. We are sorry to hear you are not satisfied with your experience. Our **************** agent was correct in that we cannot provide any information to drivers themselves, but instead we coordinate directly with the dealership where you bought your vehicle. I purchased a car on 8/30. I was given a 90 day temp plate. On 12/3 (5 days AFTER my temp plate expired), I received an "in process affidavit" to "protect" me from legal repercussions for driving with an expired plate. That affidavit is dated for 10/10/24. Can someone please explain to me why on 12/28/24, I'm still sitting here waiting on my plate and registration that were PAID FOR ON 8/30. This was all included on my paperwork the day I signed my car, so why am I still waiting? I have to get new plates in February, assuming I even have anything to do that with. So, who owes me the money back for that time I've not had a plate? That affidavit also didn't prevent me from getting a warning. So, the next cop that pulls me over and decides to give me a ticket, despite this poorly drawn up affidavit, who covers that? If I were doing all of this, it wouldn't be an issue, but I wasn't given that option. Its 2024, not 1985, how is this taking so long? It's also on a BRAND NEW 2025, not a used car or anything that could have red tape associated with it. Everything about this "business" seems shady. If they can't do their jobs in a ****** fashion when they've been paid, they don't need to be a business. This place is a joke, as well as any dealership dealing with them.Business Response

Hi ******,
Thank you for the feedback. *** strives to provide industry-best transparency in all pricing and fees to our customers. These include taxes and fees charged by ****, which are determined by the state. Unfortunately, we can't go over these with you directly because the dealership is our customer. We would be happy to review these with the dealership if they have any questions.

I bought an out of state truck in March 2024, in the contract it stated that Titling would have to be handled by a 3rd party. The finance company unfortunately chose ***. As of November 1st, I still don't have plates for the truck. The finance company emailed me and said that *** is stating that in addition to the 3k that I've already paid, I now have to pay another 900 and change for a miscalculation and penalties (how are penalties my problem?) They have given me no documentation on this, just "the dmv said". I highly recommend steering far away from this company. 7 months is a ridiculous amount of time to be waiting on plates.Business Response

I did want to let you know that *** is unable to communicate directly with dealerships customers due to restrictive laws for your protection. On May 23, 2024, I purchased a new 2024 car from a Chevrolet Dealership near **************** and I am an ******* resident. As of August 6, 2024 I have not received the plates and registration for the car and the dealership won't or can't provide a 3rd temporary plate. So now I can't drive the car. I have made numerous inquiries with the dealership to find out the status of the registration with very little response from the dealership. I did find out that the dealership uses a 3rd party company (Automotive Titling Corporation) (ATC) to process out of state registrations on there behalf. The dealership provided me with a copy of a document from ATC that was supposedly from the Indiana BMV stating that the new ******************************************************************** my county. I reviewed the Indiana BMV requirements and called the Indiana BMV and confirmed that no emissions test required for new cars in *******. I attempted to contact ATC directly and they will not discuss the issue at there policy is to only work with dealerships. This is very poor customer service considering the dealership charged me an additional fee to have ATC process the registration. Additionally I contacted the Indiana BMV to try and find out the status of the registration and their response to me is that there should be a tracking or ID number associated with the registration application. I requested this information from the dealership however they either don't have it or won't provide it. If you buy a car from a dealership who uses ATC make sure you get copies of the application and any tracking numbers associated with the application because it is nearly impossible to get information after the fact.Business Response

I bought a vehicle from ********************* of *******, **. on June 15, 2024. As of today, August 1, ************************************** **********, *** because I have no title nor license plates. In the process of closing the purchase, I agreed with the seller to allow Automotive Titling ** to do the *** paperwork. The cost was around $150 - $160. The sales pitch was that I would not have to go to *** and the paperwork would be delivered to *************** of ***** Vehicles within 20 days. Twenty days came and went and *** hadn't seen the paperwork. I was provided a 3 day permit to drive it to **********. The day after I arrived home, I did my requirements; had the truck weighed, had a vin verification done at *** and did a smog test. Those 3 documents were sent back to ****** the same day in a ***** overnight envelope. That was done before June 20, 2024. The next time I talked to ******, they told me I did my requirements to fast.. That was the reason ATC went past the 20 day **** and penalties started accruing. The last time I was able to talk to someone at ******, they told me the papers were sent to Ca *** on July 19, 2024. I chatted with Ca *** on July 29, 2024. They said they had received the paperwork and check, but a bill of sale was not present so they sent everything back to ATC. So now I sit again, waiting. If I am EVER offered "help" from ATC I will deny it. This company should be put out of business.Business Response

I purchased a car on March 6, 2024 from a dealership who uses ATC to process titles and tags for out of state customers. ATC was provided all of the required paperwork to process my title by the second week of March 2024. According to ATC and the dmv, ATC made an error on the paperwork and was notified of the error on April 6, 2024. Since April 6, 2024, ATC has provided multiple contradictory and incorrect information to the dealership and blamed the delay on the dmv, while never even responding to the dmv. Due to ATC's negligence, the temporary tags on my vehicle have expired and I am unable to drive the car. Sp far it has been 2 months where ATC has failed to do their actual job and failed to actually send my car paperwork to the dmv. This company is extremely unprofessional and misrepresents the actions they take for individual car purchasers. Based on the way this company does business, it appears to be a scam and I encourage buyers to avoid using ATC at all costs.Initial Complaint

I purchased a vehicle from an ******* dealership as an ******** resident back in May. ******* plates only last 45 days. The plates have expired and we can not get any new plates until the title has been applied for. Its been almost 60 days since purchase and after speaking with the dealer, both dmvs they have no completed application for my vehicle. ATC refuses to discuss with us since were not the dealership. And they refuse to give the dealer the tracking number of the documents they claim were delivered to the secretary of states office. The advice my *** gave is to contact the *** police which may lead them to not be able to continue performing business in ******** since they fail to title these vehicles in the time period legally required. This company needs to be closed since its leaving buyers with useless vehiclesBusiness Response

Thank you for the feedback. We greatly apologize for the inconvenience and frustration. ATC did receive your paperwork on June 22nd, audited all documents, and the title was finished processing on August 3rd.
We appreciate your feedback around communication as well. We do want to let you know that we have agreements with our dealerships that we are directed to send all communication back to the dealership for information on the transaction. We do share our state specific turn around times with the dealerships, which in this case was 20 business days from the time we had everything we needed. I recently bought a **** Fusion Titanium Hybrid 2020 from Suburban Cadillac in April 2023. I was told that ATC would handle my title and registration. The dealer told me that they had sent all of my information to ATC at the beginning of June, when my in transit plate expired. I reached out to ATC customer service to find out when my license plate would be getting to me, but all they could say was Oh, just reach out to your dealer for more information. We cant provide that information. Like, are you kidding me? What would be the point in doing that when ATC is supposedly the ones who currently hold my title? Im just frustrated because Ive been driving around with an expired in transit plate and no information has been given to me, and its **** 4-6 weeks with no sign of my actual plate. This is absurd and illegal and how could you want this for your customers? I just want my plate expeditiously so I can avoid any legal issues with my state.Business Response

I purchased a vehicle using ATC service from a dealer in **. I am located and titling the vehicle in MS. ** MS, we have a 7 day window to obtain license plates which ATC is well aware of. At this time, I still do not have the paperwork at my DMV. Also, I tried calling ATC multiple times with no call back. Finally got a hold of one of the reps. *** informed me she cannot give me any details on my situation because she will only speak to the dealer. How is that even legal!!!??? That is a terrible business practice. It is MY vehicle and it is ME who paid for this service as seen on my contract. This is ridiculous and I am about to have a $90k vehicle that I wont be able to legally drive on the roads because of ATCs unethical and improper business practices.Business Response
