I purchased 7 coins via the **** platform from Canon City Coins on early October of 2022. I am new to coin collecting and decided to purchase from a reputable business and spend a few extra dollars to ensure I was getting quality merchandise. Canon City Coins advertise their products on **** as hand selected GEM BU MS *********************** This means the coins they are hand selecting are BU (bright uncirculated), MS ***** state) GEM quality (above MS 65) - all of the coins were delivered ungraded by a 3rd party (which was expected). A few weeks after receiving the coins (which looked good to me as a novice coin collector), I decided to send them to NGC (one of the two top ranked coin grading companies) for grading. I was very surprised to find out (in late November) that one of the coins was graded AU (almost uncirculated), two were determined to have been improperly cleaned (removing collector value) and the remaining 4 did not receive the grading certification of MS 65+. The best of the lot received a score of MS 64. Canon City Coins advertises their products showing a generic high quality coin in the photo but does not provide pictures of the coin received. They claim to have 20 years experience in the coin business (more than enough to recognize a GEM quality coin vs an improperly cleaned or circulated coin). I contacted the company via **** after receiving my graded coins back from NGC and was told I was past the 30 day return window and was directed to their disclaimer which stated they were not responsible for the quality of the *********************** In total, I spent $912.20 for what were billed at GEM quality BU MS *********************** After having them graded and valued, the 5 that received actual grading scores were valued at $405.00 and the two that were determined to have been improperly cleaned are only worth a little over melt value - maybe $60 for both. Canon City Coins is fraudulently advertising their services and stealing money from customers.
