I am filing this complaint regarding my recent experience with Autowerks, which I believe involved unethical business practices, misrepresentation, and overcharging.I brought my Mercedes S550 to Autowerks for a full inspection. Before agreeing, I was quoted a set price for the inspection. During the inspection, I received a call from ****, who stated that my technician needed more time. The inspection cost was then doubled without prior authorization from me.Several hours later, **** called again with the results, claiming repairs would cost approximately $19,000. When I declined, he quickly reduced the estimate to around $15,000, stating he could work with me. This drastic drop in price raised serious concerns.I requested a written breakdown, which was emailed to me. The document was vague, lacking transparency about labor, parts, and specific diagnostic details. I forwarded the estimate to another reputable shop, who stated they could complete the same work for approximately $7,000.I then had my vehicle inspected by the second shop, who determined that most of the repairs Autowerks recommended were unnecessary. This confirms my suspicion that the original inspection was inflated and misleading. This experience has resulted in:An unauthorized increase in the inspection cost.Grossly inflated and possibly fabricated repair recommendations.A lack of transparency in the estimate provided.Requested Resolution:A full refund of the inspection fee, as the service was misrepresented and provided in bad faith.Removal of any record or claim by Autowerks suggesting work was required that was later proven unnecessary.I am submitting this complaint to the BBB so that other consumers are aware of these practices.Supporting Evidence Available:Original inspection quote Increased inspection charge notice Written estimate from Autowerks Competing estimate from another shop for same scope of work Second shops inspection showing majority of work unnecessary
