Construction Jan 2021-march 2021 I was charged $37000 to do some work at my place, 33, 500ish was just labour. The job was left unfinished, They lied about things they did, I paid a other to do carpet, move furniture, and remove old carpets, Alpine claims they moved the furniture and removed old carpet and charged me. The also claim They painted where in fact I did the job. most everything needs repaired, they refuse to fix anything. They put my shower door on backwards, my cl***t door on backwards and upside down, bathroom floor not level, installed wrong toilets. The wood wall they installed took 60 hours and ordered the hinges to wrong address. The trim is missing in some places, too short in others, I had to fix 14 outlets because the wall was gouged and needed painted and repaired, had to turn 2 that were installed upside down. The stair case need repaired, they claim there were holes before they did the job, although they charged to repair holes that are still there. ect..

Alpine Building & Development, Inc. (ABD) Response:

      “The job was left unfinished”:
The work was completed except for one project. That project was the hidden door and ABD
was waiting for the door latch customer said she had ordered to arrive. To save on costs, we
were going to complete all work once door latch had arrived. We were never informed as to
when the latch came in to install and complete door.
ABD has had numerous contacts with customer in order to address her issues. Customer finally
stated that she wanted a breakdown of the costs before we met with her again. ABD sent the
breakdown to her and then she refused to have a meeting. ABD then had our attorney try to set
up a meeting at the property at which he would act as a facilitator. Customer refused once
      again.

“I paid another to do carpet and furniture and remove old carpets, business claims they moved
furniture and removed old carpet and charged me”:
ABD did remove carpet on stairs (prior to carpet company coming in) so that they could stain.
(we have pictures from January showing the carpet having been removed from the stairs). This
was completed while customer was home, she requested this to be done to allow for the stairs
to be appropriately stained and finished. ABD moved furniture in Living Room and Bedrooms
for work on projects OTHER than carpets.

“They also claim they painted where in fact I did the job”:
Customer did paint, but then added additional work which required painting to be redone.
      Customer requested this.
Because of the stair railing project, touch up paint was needed on wall. (have pictures of this)
Discussed this with customer. Tried to use paint from wall that customer had painted, but it was
a different color, so had to paint whole wall…was discussed and approved by customer prior to
      painting.
Customer requested that we paint the hallway staircase.

“They put my shower door on backwards, my cl***t door and backwards and upside down,
bathroom floor not level, installed wrong toilets”:
Shower threshold needed to be reversed not door. Customer was not billed for making this
      correction.
Cl***t door was not installed upside down and backwards. When ABD left work on the last day,
we were waiting for the door latch customer said she had ordered to arrive. To save on costs,
we were going to complete all work once door latch had arrived. Customer requested that we
fill in holes that were made for the door latch because the door latch she picked did not require
holes, which we did. We were never informed as to when the latch came in to install and
complete door. Customer was not billed for any hours not worked. In fact, we have un-billed
      hours.
Customer originally said the bathroom floor was “squeaking”…we had three different people go
over and try to hear this which we never did. We never heard about the floor not being
level…this is something we check when installing floors.
Customer picked out the first toilet which ABD installed and then ABD ordered and installed
same toilet in other bathroom at customer’s request.

“The wood wall took 60 hours and ordered hinges to wrong address”:
The original estimate for the barnwood wall was for 16 hours of labor. The final number of
hours for the wood wall was 16.57 hours.
Customer added the following projects regarding the barnwood: Hidden cl***t door wall/Detail,
Hidden door with hinges, Master bedroom window surround and trim, Master bedroom and
      bathroom baseboard.
Customer told us (after all work completed and invoices paid in full) that
“To many hours billed for meetings about wall/door. Multiple days.” Hours for meetings were because Customer
wanted to be involved in the details of this part of the project. On the way out the door to go on
vacation, customer asked Principal of ABD to go ahead and complete the hidden barnwood
door wall while she was on vacation. She then required Principal to have phone call meetings
with her and to have photos sent to determine final details due to the priority of completing this
task on a timely basis with customer’s involvement. For one meeting on 2/26, Principal called
her at the specified time that they had agreed upon and there was no answer. He had crew
there specifically to be able to show her different ideas for the barnwood. When she didn’t
answer, he left to check on another project. 45 minutes later she called him and had him go
back to her house to do the meeting.
ABD did not have hinges sent to the wrong address….as with many items these days, the order
was delayed which was discussed with customer. Customer was never billed for the hinges that
      were installed.

“The trim is missing in some places, too short in others, I had to fix 14 outlets because the wall
was gouged and needed painted and repaired, had to turn 2 that were installed upside down”:
This is the first we have heard about the trim. Customer was in the property and signed off on
and paid for the invoice that included this work.
This is the first we have heard about the wall gouges. Customer was in the property and signed
off on and paid for the invoice that included this work. Customer originally told business that
she was going to finish up outlets in the master, business did several of the outlets in the master
for no charge and then dropped off screws for customer so she could finish. Principal never
saw any outlets that were upside down.

“The staircase need repaired, they claim there were holes before they did the job although they
charged to repair holes that are still there”:
When work was completed, there was no damage and Customer signed off on it (and paid for
it). Don’t know how she is talking about as to “holes: During meeting with administrative
assistant from ABD, customer pointed out some minor “scratches” not “holes”. We know that
some moving in was done after this and it was tenant occupied. Carpet company removed
carpet and moved furniture from loft down the staircase.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

They claim they did work which they did NOT do.  The bathroom floor will need replaced because is is not level, I have had a other contractors look at it and they said it would need replaced. The shower was not sealed properly, I got a quote of 4500 for labor.  ABD charged me over $1200. for demo and to redo the bathroom.  It is not finished.  I have no door or cl***t, and the floor clicks.  when I told them, they said they would look at it, and that was what happened, nothing else.
I cl***t door, is still upside down, ABD ordered the hinges but apparently they never came so I had to order them.  I have the text messages 2 months before they came after I finally ordered them.
The hours they claim to be working at my house, I don't agree with, They no business moving my TV, i asked them not to paint, other then around the stairs.  They came and did touch up almost every time they worked, should of been done when the job was done.

They also claim to have cleaned my utility room?  I don't have one.

They claimed to remove furniture and carpets for the rooms and loft, I hired **** ******** to do this job and I have the invoice.

I asked them to do a walk thorough which Matthew M***** and Jane R*** started to,  Matt had a fit and left after he argued but the problems I had.  Jane came and did one more walk through the following day.  I was informed Matt would not work at my house if I was home.  since then they canceled on every other walk through I have asked them to do, including the last time.  I said June 28, 11 am.  I was leaving town and they said to pick a time, which I did.  The response 5 people from their crew would do a walk through at 11 am on June 30th, which I am also not comfortable having that many people come at me trying to intimidate in they own house.

I think the lying of what they did and the quality of work is disgusting after what I was charged and I trusted them.

      Regards,

As stated earlier, ABD has had numerous contacts with customer in order to address her.  ABD then had our attorney try to set up a meeting at the property at which he would act as a facilitator.  Customer refused once again.

Customer has been sending derogatory texts to the owner of ABD as well as to ABD employees.  She then left a nasty message for our attorney using foul language.  Our attorney has advised us not to have any further contact with her.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

They Are totally making this up.  I have set up at least 5 walk throughs with ABD and every time they have cancelled.  Jane R*** has done two, one with Matthew leaving 5 minutes into the first meeting.  I told them to come do a walk through on June 28th at 11am.  they responded with saying FIVE PEOPLE would be at my place on June 30th at 10am.  yes I got very upset.  I do not want five people coming into my house and arguing telling me i am wrong.  Matt told Jane R*** he would not work in my house If I was there.  I had to leave the last time he came over, and said they would not be back til I paid more money.  I paid them and he came by and looked at the floor, but did nothing.

Bottom line, they over charged me and did a horrible job, they take advantage of people.  I need to pay someone to finish the job and fix everything.

They claim to of did work which they didn't do.

      Regards,
