On January 19, 2023 I received a call from Federal Tax Law from a form I filled out online from an ad on ******** for tax relief services. I was told it would be $595.00 to perform Discovery from the **** I agreed to a payment plan of $100.00 down and the remainder to be auto drafted from my bank account in two payments over two monthly installments. After the second installment, I received a text that they were still waiting on my transcripts from the irs, and that they should be available by the time I make the last installment payment. Sure enough, when I contacted them 7 days after my last payment, they had the transcripts. Fast forward to the present. I am working with ***************************** to resolve my tax issue. They will have my transcripts from the *** in 24 hours. And the charge for discovery is free. I feel like I was deceived and basically ripped off by Federal Tax Law.Business Response

I had signed up w/ Federal Tax Law Group (referred to hereon as FTLG) in mid/late October to negotiate a reduction in my balance due to the **** I had NO past years returns to be filed. At the time that I signed the agreement with FTLG I was enrolled in a payment plan with the *** making monthly payments of $87. I continued to make those payments to the *** while FTLG was supposedly negotiating a CNC Status (Currently not collectable) or penalty abatement. However, the only thing they accomplished was to increase my monthly payment to the *** to $100/mo. No penalties or interest were voided, no reduction was made in my amount owed and I am now paying MORE monthly to the **** PLUS Im paying FTLG $270.83/mo.To date I have paid $1,954.15. If I continue to pay them the current monthly amount, I will pay a total of $3,850. I have spoken to multiple people at FTLG and was advised that the fee I am paying is for the max *********** and protection and typically requires filing of past year tax returns. While I have continued to try to get answers and explanations since November 2022, I am still struggling. I leave voicemails, send text messages, and send emails all to no avail. I am not paying the $100 to the *** and they continue to withdraw the monthly payment of $270.83. I do not feel that I received any service worth the amount paid.As per the signed agreement (uploaded) FTLG agreed to:Prevention against involuntary collection activities (e.g. bank levies, wage garnishments, seizure of assets) from the *** and or State taxing authority(s), upon the condition that the client is in compliance with all *** and or State (which I have). Prepare, file and negotiate a tax compliant petition through a tax relief program with an Offer in Compromise, Penalty Abatement, Deferred Offer in Compromise, Currently not Collectable (CNC) Status and or Installment Agreement for any outstanding balance for submission by client.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: I have been trying to resolve this issue with them since November and they have not contacted me with a resolution. I have made contact with another person over there, but, again, I am told that they will get back to me and I never hear from them.

I was assured by Federal Tax Law Group rep that they could get me relieved from my tax debt or reduce by more than half the debt. They assured me they could get me relieved from my tax debt as part of a one-time program that the *** have for first time people with tax issues or reduce by half the debt this all started in 2020. I submitted all the required paperwork and information they as asked me to submit several times because one of their case managers failed to stay on top of my case and after several months another case manager was assigned to me in 2021 and I had to resubmitted everything all over again per the new case manager this has been a nightmare receiving threaten letters from the *** and with no positive results so far. I'm working with my 4th new case manager in 2 plus years with no resolves. So far, the previous case manager was horrible except the 2nd one the others fail to keep me updated with the status of my case even after leaving several emails and phone calls. I checked my email one day and seen a payment plan laid out for me which no one from the company called me to discuss plus my tax total was not reduce at all like I was originally assured which is the only reason I agreed to pay them $4500.00 to handle my tax issues with the ***. Now they claiming something totally different about what they can and cannot do 2 years later they are claiming they can't get me a tax relief as claimed when they assured me once I pay them $4500 to handle my tax issues, they can start working on getting me relieved of my tax issues. I now believe these people scammed me out of money to pay them to do absolutely nothing so far, a payment plan with nothing reduce I could have done that 2 years ago with the *** for free myself, starting with the $4500 they scammed me into paying them 2 years ago, plus now they are saying something totally different about tax relieve for me, and nothing about the one case manager who failed to stay on top of my case a year ago which I had to resubmit all my paperwork again for their employee failure. I was told to disregard the payment plan notices from them and the *** over a week ago and now I received another letter from the *** about a payment plan which is higher payments so I'm not sure what Federal Tax Law Group are actually doing in my case there service have been Horrible so far!Customer Answer

My issue still have NOT been RESOLVED Yet by this company. I'm still getting nothing but the run around after dealing spending $5000.00 and 2 plus years later nothing has changed and so far they have nothing but make up excuses and keep asking me to provide them with more of the same paperwork that they already from the last 3 times the asked for it to submit again for the 4th time which makes no sense why they keep asking me for paperwork to submit several times with no positive results, this is starting to feel like a scam business, at this point I would prefer a full refund to go and deal with a real Tax firm that can really help with my tax issues, if they can't!Business Response

I had a consultation with this company regarding reduction of the amount owed to the *** in back taxes. I informed them of the amount and the fact I had previously had a payment plan in place. I was very specific in the fact that I was looking for a REDUCED amount. I was promised that this was able to be arranged due to certain programs. I was billed $1000/month from September to October to be told a payment plan had been arranged that I was not consulted on, nor agreed to. I asked for a refund and all intervention to cease on my behalf. I have not received a refundBusiness Response

Client hired Federal Tax Law Group to ensure continued protection from the *** and a negotiation of the best possible resolution. In her case, our firm successfully submitted for the abatement of penalties and negotiated for the lowest possible installment agreement. Client was provided with other opportunities for further abatement but rejected those. The client's refund request has been received and is currently under review.Customer Answer
