We purchased a re-manufactured engine from Elite Auto Parts via the broker ********************. We paid the broker with a credit card in the amount of *********. The engine was shipped. Receipt was delayed due to shipping errors. Once received our mechanic then installed the engine at his hourly rate. After picking up the vehicle it was determined it was not running properly. It was deemed the vehicle was un-drivable so was then towed back to our mechanic. Elite Auto Parts sent an inspector to our mechanics to evaluate the issue. It was on determined April 19, 2022 to be bent valves, cracked valve guides and other damage internally to the engine. After some back and forth communication and a Face Time meeting between our mechanic and **** at Elite confirming their proprietary heat tabs were in place, we were told a replacement would be shipped to us. Numerous phone calls and emails were made to Elite Auto Parts to inquire as to the status of the replacement engine. Every week we were told it would be shipped "on Monday". Actual calls were made on the following dates in 2022, 4/6, 4/9, 4/11, 4/26, 4/27, 5/13, 5/20, 5/31, 6/9, 6/15, 6/18, 6/27, 6/28, and many more since then. As of today, 1/11/2023, we have still not received a replacement engine. This has been the most long, drawn out process and has cost much more than the actual cost of the engine in mechanic and storage fees for the vehicle. After almost a year we do not think this is too much to ask. Now the company has changed their name but this does not negate their obligation to fulfill our purchase.Initial Complaint

I started talking to them about having my car sent down to get a new engine around august 13th, 2022. They asked that I pay ****** dollars total. half up front and half when the job was done. I did. They had my car for four months and didnt fix anything. kept the 5000$ and I had to pay shipping to get it back. I know that they didnt give me a new engine because my aftermarket parts that dont fit on a completely stock engine (as promised) were still installed on the car and they didnt fix anything on the car seeing as I ran the code reader and the same code and many more new codes were on the car now. I would like a full refund and the money for towing, **** dollars is on the low side of what towing costed. they wasted 5 months of my life, took the money, and still have yet to produce a summary of what was actually done to the car after I have asked 3 times now. I would like to send it to another shop, but other shops dont want to touch it untill they are certain of what was actually done because it is definitely not a new engine. Their communication and costumer service is far below par. in the photos attached, you can see a fuel pump that I bought off of ***** OEM fuel pumps dont get sharpie written on them, and the other picture is the top of a 207mm crank pulley from 034 motorsports that doesnt not fit on OEM engines. I also attached the list of new codes that car has. The car also has, P0341,P0340,P0130,P0087,P0300,P0302,P0303, and P0301. All of which are the reason's I sent the car to them in the first place. They said that they couldnt get the car to start for some reason and would let me keep the new engine and not charge the other half of the ****** dollars that was agreed upon. When I asked them what the codes were for the *** they said they would email them to me and never did. Probably because they didnt put a new engine in it. I want my money back.Business Response

As **************** has admitted in his Complaint his car has several modifications done to it which caused the Original Engine to Fail. We worked on his engine and told him that we needed the original parts to get it back to stock and he didn't have them or send them to us. We came up with an amicable resolution that we wouldn't charge him the balance owed of $5,000.00 since we couldn't test the vehicle or to get it running properly as it is an OffRoad Vehicle (No Smog Equipment at all) and he will have to do that with a shop that is willing to work on OFFROAD VEHICLES and test on an OFFROAD testing facility. We only work on Stock vehicles that meet all emission standards and that's what he told us his car was when he sent it to us. We paid $1250.00 shipping to get his vehicle here and with the cost of the parts and labor we are out about $2500.00 over what he paid us. If you look up the codes that he provided the majority of them are for Illegal Street Racing Parts that were put on the vehicle and that is also causing other codes to be flagged as well. I also explained to ******************** that if we got caught with that vehicle on the road here it would get impounded by the ***************** and would be flagged in the system for not meeting EPA Standards as it is not even Legal in his *******************.Customer Answer

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
You accepted the car knowing there were modifications to the car. the oem parts were most definitley in the car and should not have affected a new engine install as agreed upon. You did not state that you would work on the existing engine. you said i would get a different engine with new seals and oem spec and had that been the case as you promised then you would have had issue's. the car's timing is off and it had valve lash and scoring of the cyclinder walls. none of those components are aftermarket. regardless of **************** law the car is registered in island county washing and does not get smog tested nor does that effect your ability to put a new engine in the car. you admitted that you had **** dollars in "parts" and labor which was not what was agreed upon. what was agreed was that you would put a different engine in and I gave you the old one and leave the oem parts in the car. which they still are in the car to this day since I still cant drive the car cause its not fixed. so yes you would have problems with not being able to fix the car if you didnt actually fix the issue in the first place. you tried to cut corners and do as little as possible to get it running and not give me a different engine as promised, and you still wont give me an accurate summary of what you did. Because you did not provide that product that you advertised and my car is still not running then yes i would like a refund, especially since the original timeline that you quoted me was 4 weeks, not 4 months.Customer Answer

I purchased a remanufactured engine via the internet and phone calls from ************ Engines Nov. 15, 2021 and after missing promised dates got the engine in Jan. 2022 and when installed it was found to have improper block welds and leaked oil. They promised to make it right and pay my mechanics to weld properly with TIG welds and reinstall. This was done only after second install to find more smaller cracks in block from pressure and leaks too much to be proper so engine was declared bad and they would pay and ship a second. This took months and upon getting second engine and installing it was NOT for **************************************** It was not *** and would require more work, changes and re-install and my mechanics wanted proof right engine as block numbers did not jive. Lots of promises and more expense by my mechanics but in the end they have NOT CALLED they ghosted me and I'm now out the cost of an engine. They got my engine back and remanufactured and made money on it. I have one worthless engine and another that doesn't go to my vehicle and their promised to pay my mechanics had failed to tune of about *** so I'm out original ****** plus mechanic work due to install/reinstall for a total of ****** with a demand lawyer sent and no response. Next filing lawsuit for Fraud as they had another company Elite fill the order then make all the promised when I purchased based on talking with ******* and never was told it was ELITE filling order and they have many 1 star fraud claims which I'm finding are true. I believe both worked to gether to get here.
I have pictures and considerably more details and emails promising resolution all from earlier. No resolutionInitial Complaint

On August 15, 2022, I contracted with Elite Auto Parts to replace the engine in my 2017 Land Rover Discovery HSE giving them $7500 deposit on the total of $1***** that included a remanufactured engine, installation, and transportation to and from ***********, ** to Sun Valley, **. They picked up the car, but it was not returned until November 5, 2022. The quote was for 4 weeks, not the actual ~12 weeks. When the car was received, the engine light was on, the ** would not work (yes, it worked perfectly before), the *** port was dangling beneath the dash and the cover was missing, and we had a warning light that the gas cap was not tighten (which would not go out even after tightening). On August 10, 2022 I received a call from a person that said they were referred by Sharpers Engine. The caller said his name was *******************'s and he gets referrals from Sharpers Engine. He was told that I needed a Audi Q5 2.0t remanufactured engine and he could send it to me for $5500. I asked if it could be shipped out right away and he said I should have it within a week. I agreed and asked for an invoice before paying. He sent an email with the invoice. I paid for the engine in two payments. However, I never got the engine as promised. I had to keep calling and each time I was told something different. Then the owner, **** returned my call and said he will make everything right and send my engine soon as possible. He told me not to talk to anyone else because he will handle it. Well I kept calling him, until he said the engine was shipped. The engine he sent was not what I ordered. He sent a used VW Tiguan engine. The engine was painted and not rebuilt. My mechanic took pictures that I sent to ****. He apologized and said he will give me a refund. A refund was never sent, even after he told me it was. In September I was still requesting for a refund and for them to get the engine. **** started blocking my calls and never had another conversation with me about the engine. Then I called and spoke with ****, I assume he is another owner. He made promises too but didn't refund my $5500, for an engine I never got. We returned the engine using the shipping information from **** however, sending the engine didn't make things right. My mechanic still has my Audi Q5 2.0t with no motor because I have been waiting on my refund to purchase one. But recently I found put this company was not referred by Sharpers Engine, they fraudulently used their name and did not provide me with a product. I just would like my money back from this company.Initial Complaint

We purchased an engine from this company 8/9/2022, in the amount of $5300.00. They shipped us the wrong engine. We notified them approximately 9/18/2022, they said they would take care of us and would get us the right engine. We were waiting for news on the new engine, not really hearing updates from them, My husband tries to reach the owner/owners. They are never there,he is always told they will call him back etc. they dont,...pretty much avoiding my husband. 9/30/2022, I contact one of the owners via email asking for my refund, he said not until he received the engine. Interesting because we find out from our garage that the engine was shipped out 9/22/2022, right after they found out from us it wasnt the right one. I contact Elite asking for tracking they say they dont have it. we go to our garage they pull the email with all the tracking. **** tracks it to a ********* garage, not the business we purchased from (Elite) Wouldnt you know, they sold our engine to a new customer, never gave us credit. We really tried to go thru them many times, give them a chance to make this right. They keep saying they are working on it. We want our money back. So one engine and 2 people bought it??? I have any documentation and contacts, that you would need to help us to get our money back. I dont think its fair for them to keep my money for an engine they resold. I can try to get my money back from my credit card, but I feel in good business they need to do the right thing and credit my card back. The fact they shipped my engine to another garage seems very shady. Side note, the engine they sent wont work for the 2nd customer either. All I want is my $5300 refunded back to my credit card.Customer Answer

The date of the transaction is September 12th of 2022. The total was ******** and the owner of the company had me ***** him directly for a discount which made the total ***** so I did. My bank won't let me send more than ***** to someone within 24 hours, so I split the payment into 2 so the first one was ***** and the second was **** So then after I ***** the owner directly for the product, I asked if I would receive a ******** number and he says yes you'll receive a tracking number. So I've been waiting and waiting for 2-3 weeks now for a ******** number. I've tried calling him, texting him, leaving a voicemail, calling his company and someone answered and spoke to me and they said they would "check" for me, but I don't want anyone to check anything. All I want is a simple tracking number so that I can see when it's going to be delivered. Once again I've tried calling and texting and I've gotten no response. Also what I am purchasing is a ************** engine for a **** ** **** price as earlier mentioned was ****** And no this business has not yet tried to resolve this ******** number issue as far as I know. As of October 7th 2022 I have no response.Business Response

I will repay this customer; he is **** correct. Our company recently went bankrupt so is it possible to repay this in 4 payments with interest?
Consumer Response /* (3000, 10, 2022/10/25) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I don't accept this response because I paid for what I thought was going to be a reman engine in 2 payments, one was ***** and the other was **** Now I understand going bankrupt is ******* a business, but it's harder to hear multiple times that the engine is "on its way" or will be on its way soon, and then weeks later nothings happened. I don't get any calls back or any kind of notification that there's something wrong, I've been without a car for months now and money doesn't get thrown around easy here. I've worked long hard hours for that money and now I've got to find a different company fast who can get me an engine and I can't do it with no repayment. So I would like it in 2 payments and as fast as possible.
