Complaint Summary:
On 05/15/23, I was invited by Opinions for Cash, LLC to participate in a focus group offering a $125 incentive. I followed all instructions, including logging into Zoom early. At 11:52 AM PST—eight minutes before the 12 PM PST study—I received a cancellation email. By then, I had waited 20 minutes in the Zoom waiting room.
Details:
This late cancellation wasted my time and disrupted plans. I emailed asking for compensation but was denied. I believe the company had ample time to notify participants earlier. If this was a last-minute issue, they should compensate participants and address the matter with their client.
Extenuating Circumstances:
BBB states complaints beyond one year may be accepted for extenuating circumstances. I rediscovered this issue while reviewing emails and feel strongly about resolving this unfair treatment.
Requested Resolution:
I request the $125 incentive, as I complied with all requirements, lost time, and was not given reasonable notice.Initial Complaint

I participated in an online meeting (interview) with Opinions for Cash LLC's client regarding the Lowe's MVP Pro Rewards Loyalty Program on Friday, February 23rd, 2024 at 02:00 PM. The incentive to participate was $200, and it was to be paid via PayPal within 2 weeks after completing the interview. To date, I haven't received it in my PayPal account. I contacted Jacob Netzley at the company. He is the recruiter I've communicated this information to. He has not provided an adequate answer as to when payment will be made, but only indicated that there was a "mixup." This is insufficient. I want to be paid post haste and to know exactly the date the payment will be made.Business Response

Mr. C*** originally provided an incorrect email address for payment. He contacted us on Wednesday 3/27 informing us he had not been paid for his participation in the study. After investigating it was discovered the wrong email address had been provided and we informed Mr. C*** we would have it processed asap. His payment went out to him today 4/01/24.Business Response

Mr. C*** reached out to us on Wed. March 27th regarding a missing incentive payment. Our recruiter responded to him right away and let Mr. C*** know we will look into it immediately and get back to him. Our recruiter got back to him the SAME day and let him know that there had been an error in his email address and assured him payment would be resent. Our recruiter was very pleasant with Mr. C*** as you can see in the attachments. We assured him he would receive his payment. By Saturday morning, I woke up to numerous posts on our social media that Mr. C*** made accusing us of not paying him. He then went on my personal social media accounts and started commenting on my personal pictures and posts! He also called my employees and I names and threatened me. It seems Mr. C*** did not like our response to him or we were not acting fast enough. He refused to speak with me about this and continued to call me names and threaten me. Come Monday April 1st he was paid as promised. Mix ups happen and we are always here to help respondents out if they have not received their incentive.Initial Complaint

Mr. H*** is not a current client or participant with Opinions for Cash. He is not registered in our database and therefore has never completed a payable study.
To participate in our studies you must apply and be pre-qualified by one of our Recruiters in Los Angeles. If a participant qualifies for a study they will contacted via telephone. They will be rescreened
and provided information on dates, times, locations and the payment process.
Again, we do not have any record of Mr. H*** applying, pre-qualifying, being called or participating in any of our studies.

I received an invite through my email from this company to do a survey regarding personal care products. It was a 20 minute survey that the incentive for was $35 if you completed it which I did. I am a member of many panels but I decided to take it through this panel and I did receive invites for it from other panels and all of them say the same thing in the email, about what needs to be done. They wanted you to input your email address and a recruiter code which I did. I'm so glad that I took screenshots at the end of this to prove that I've done it. I contacted the company through email because payment was supposed to have been sent within 2 weeks of taking the survey. Nobody answered me so I got a hold of them on social media. They said that the wording was written very badly and that wasn't the case. Well the survey was sent to me from five different panels and it all had the same exact wording so that makes no sense right there. I sat down I did the 20 minute survey I completed it and I just want my incentive of $35. It doesn't matter what they were talking about if it was a typo or if it was worded badly as they said, they should have sent out another email that and everyone know that which they didn't. Also none of the other five companies sent out an emails either saying that it was worded badly so that's pretty hard to believe. Like I said they should have let everyone know that completed that survey through their panel if it was rooted badly and people wasn't going to get there incentive for sitting down taking the survey for 20 minutes being promised if they complete it $35 within 2 weeks. It's not my fault if they worded it badly or whatever as they say which I highly doubt they should have told everyone that. I would like my $35 for completing this. It's only fair. If that was a mess up on their end then they should have told everybody. I would like my incentive as promised in the email for completion of the survey.Initial Complaint

Initially, I was scheduled to participate in a focus group discussion on Oct 19, 2022 because of an over-booking I was told I would be compensated but to no avail. Several times I tried to contact J****** ******* at ###-###-#### and other numbers but she refuses to acknowledge me and flat-out refuses to respond to emails and text messages. She has caused me intentional infliction of emotional distress and I want her to make me whole but paying me the money owed. Her cavalier attitude is not the benefit I bargain for and she needs to be contacted that this is not good faith or professional of any kind. Here is proof of compensation owed:Dear J****** *******,
I was recruited for a study where I was online and ready to participate. After being online I get a call from M*****###-###-#### and here is the following message:
The client over-recruited and it will not be possible to include you now on the session as it's already underway. The client would like to thank you for taking the time to show up. Please reach out to your recruiter for the next steps. Have a good day.
