      I needed a kitchen gas line simply re-directed to allow for a gas oven to sit flush with the wall. Lewis Plumbing in Santa Barbara sent a tech to do the work. The plumbing tech spent more than an hour looking at the existing pipe and going under the home to 'assess' the work. I was changed for this hour+, at which point the tech said he would have to go back to the office and have an 'estimate' written up because the work would require 2 techs 4-5 hours of work. He could not do the work. I re-explained that the existing line simply needed to be cut a couple inches, an elbow joint inserted, and gas reconnected.
      A couple days later the estimated was sent to me for a quote of over $2800!!!
      In the meantime, I had a second plumber look at the situation, and immediately they made the needed changes and in less than an hour the whole project was complete. Cost of $340.
      Lewis Plumbing charged me an hour of tech time, and then sent a ridiculous follow up estimate. This is horrible business practice and believe they where working hard to take advantage of the situation. I have call Lewis 3 times and asked to speak to someone about the $2800 quote for $340 worth the work. I'm told "MATT" would call me back, however, he never has.
