On October 14th, 2024, I contacted the business by phone to cancel my membership due to a change in my health status. I spoke with an employee who assured me that my membership would be canceled and that no further action was required on my part.Several months later, I discovered continued charges on my bank statements. I reached out to the business to explain that I had already canceled my membership and requested a refund for the charges that occurred after the cancellation.Despite not having used the facility in monthssomething they can verify through their recordsI was informed that there was no documentation of my cancellation. I was further told that their policy does not allow cancellations over the phone.I explained that an employee had told me otherwisethat my membership had been successfully canceled and that I would not be charged going forward. After some back-and-forth communication with a manager, I was told that corporate would be contacted for a resolution. I have not received any follow-up since. After receiving no response from ***, I eventually contacted my bank to try and request a chargeback. My bank contacted them, and *** replied by providing "proof" of their policy. However, in this case, their policy is irrelevant, as one of their own employees directly told me my account had been canceled and that no further action was needed. I relied on that information in good ******** is extremely unfair and unprofessional that I was misinformed by their staff, and now I am being held accountable for charges I was assured would not occur. I took the appropriate steps based on the information provided to me by their own employee.I am formally requesting a full refund for all charges made to my account after October 14th, 2024, when I canceled my membership.Initial Complaint

My credit card is continuing to be charged. I have not been to the UFC Gym in over 1 year. I have called multiple times to cancel, multiple times in the correct time frame of 21 days prior to my charge date. I do not live in ********** anymore, and I will not be able to appear there to cancel in person. I have emailed multiple times. I have gotten confirmation that my account would be cancelled, free of charge, by two different managers. My time is valuable. The managers have either not been available, not present at the gym when I call or busy or rude, then *** wants to charge me cause its not the 21 time frame, which I should not be financially held accountable for the lack of presence or reliability of *** management. I do not have the time to be distracted by this anymore. The amount of time Please help me find someone reliable at the UFC Gym who can handle this efficiently once and for all so I do not get anymore surprise charges to my credit card in the further, and I need the last charge of $51.45. I am including a screenshot that shows that I had to do this in March also, and I was refunded and my account was canceled. Please consider the amount of time that I have lost of my life simply having to get *** to stop surprising me with charges to my card.Initial Complaint

Store continues to attempt to charge membership after explicitly stating that I do not want to continue with this membership due to misleading advertising and charges. I have not used this service since December of 2024 and have spoken over the phone explicitly stating I do not wish to continue with the membership. I am not seeking compensation I just wish to be left alone, not called and for them to stop trying to charge my card and get me back in with predatory tacticsInitial Complaint

In April 2024, my trainer at UFC Gym Brea advised me that I had a free recovery session available to me. I utilized the free session and enjoyed it. My trainer said that I was able to purchase more sessions if I liked. I told her that I would like to purchase 8 sessions. We went to the register and she was having trouble making the transaction so we went to the Fitness Director, ***** ****, to process it. I provided him with my **** card to purchase the 8 sessions. I signed what I thought was the receipt. I was charged $640 on my AMEX card. That April transaction was valid. In the coming months, my wife (who handles our finances), noticed $640 monthly charges to the **** I have on file at *** for my monthly membership. I went to speak to ***** in August to ask about these charges. He proceeded to "cancel" the monthly fee and said I should be getting a refund. However, I got charged again in September now bringing the total of erroneous monthly fees to $3200 (May-Sep). When I went to speak to the Brea *** about this, I kept being told that I would be getting the refund soon. My wife finally reached out via email to ****** ******, the Operations Manager, in December 2024. She referred her email to ***** ****. My wife kept following up to get status on the refund. In January 2025, ***** **** informed us that they could not refund our money because I had "signed" a contract. Upon asking for the copy of the contract, they produced the "receipt" I thought I signed but instead it was a month to month "contract" noting my **** (the **** I use for my membership). However, I provided my **** for the original 8 sessions. Never was I informed that I was signing a month to month recurring contract. I thought I was signing my receipt for the 8 sessions at $640 with my AMEX. They have since informed me that they cannot give me a refund. Instead they are offering me an upgrade. Their practice was misleading and manipulative.Initial Complaint

This business did not inform me of a charge, and charged a late fee for not knowing of the charge. There have been multiple other complaints about it from others, and they run very shady operations. They are very pushy to get you to join the gym, and they dont let you read the contract, and just tell you a general run down and have you sign. They try to push yearly contracts that get you stuck in contracts, and do not explain any hidden fees. They also say they will refund things, and then do not refund them. They are very short on the phone, and do not let you break contract without meeting them in person.Initial Complaint

I was told when I signed up I'd only be charged the ***** a month promo free and have been charged $34.19 instead. This has happened twice in the last few months. Also I was not advised of the early annual fees which were also deducted about two months from starting the membership.Initial Complaint

I've been unable to cancel my membership for the past 3 years and I have gone roughly 20 times to this gym. A few months ago my debit card finally expired so they couldn't charge me anymore. They call every single day. I just want them to stop calling.Customer Answer

On July 15th at approximately 6pm the general manager of the gym came to me during my workout and asked me to come with him to his office. Inside his office he told me he was going to suspend my membership due to a complaint that he received from a woman about me. According to him, she claimed that I grabbed her a** during a Jiu Jitsu match. The claims was so absurd, I told him that it was a bold faced lie and that I was going to go finish my workout. Later that evening in the Jiu Jitsu class I pulled the coach aside and told him that I wanted a formal apology from whoever made the claim. Later in the week on Thursday July 18th at 4:51 pm I received a very vague email stating that my membership had been revoked at the corporate level. I replied back asking them to make it very clear to me what I was being accused of and I still haven't gotten a response. I'm planning on suing the company for defamation of character for interfering with a legal contract and siding with such a ridiculous claim about my character.Customer Answer

I contacted the UFC gym business online through their messaging service to cancel my membership and received no reply. I then spoke to a customer representative over the phone and she was able to cancel the membership for me and explained that I would have no extra charges. This was Three weeks before the surprise charge. I just got charged 193 dollars on June 29 of this year, and when I called to have UFC explain this charge explain to me that I cannot get a refund. I would like a refund for this as I havent been to UFC gym for over a month. When I initially signed up to UFC gym, it was explained to me by one of the managers that I would not have any surprise charges or any cancellation fee if I were to cancel the next day of signing up. I was under the assumption that there would be no fee or cancellation policy and nothing was explained to me, even though I extensively asked if there are any such policies.Customer Answer

I signed up for 30-month membership on November 26, 2022. I paid an amount of $499.00.I have the habit of collecting plastic bottles and aluminum cans for recycling. I consider recycling is a virtue. Recycling would reduce dumping at landfills. Plastic bottles were man-made. Bacteria would not degrade them. I read that a beached whale whose stomach had 80 pounds of plastics which killed the whale. I was barred from picking plastic bottles and cans inside the gym but okay outside the gym. I routinely went to the gym every morning. I picked up a few plastic bottles in the men's room. I was asked to leave the gym on June 20, 2024 without taking a shower. I demanded that I need to refund my unused months at the gym. The calculation is as follows: $499(11/30) = $182.97. I still have 11 months to go. The manager refused to refund me. Hence, I file this complaint.Customer Answer
