      On July 18, I received an email from an address I did not recognize (I have attached the email chain). The rude email claimed that I owed money to a company that I had never heard of. I responded to the email indicating that I believed it to be a scam. However, the respondent claimed to be from my apartment building's management group.After confirming with the building manager that the respondent did work for the company, I responded that I had never heard of the company in question. The respondent replied that the company billed building utilities for Atlas Property Group, and that I owed over $800. As it turned out, Altas Property Group had created an account in the name of an incorrect email as they admit in the second attached chain, they created the account for ********************** (which is incorrect), despite possessing my correct account. As a result, I had no actual notice of the charges until after I moved out.The building now proposes to retain most of my security deposit to cover the bill. While I have pointed out their mistake to them, they continue to deny responsibility.I have also attached the copy of the pass-through bill they sent me. As you can see, they did not provide me with a cumulative bill, and the charges are outrageous: $139.32 in passthrough utilities for the month of July alone. I am seeking to recover my security deposit from APG, as well as a review of their practices for billing the other residents of the building. It defies believe that each resident would owe over $100 in pass-through utilities each month. However, I would like to keep the dispute private if possible.
