I canceled the kick off account an now they have put a 2 dollar late payment on my credit wheni canceled their services I believe this is in retaliation to canceling their serviceBusiness Response

My credit report through Equifax shows that I opened an account with Kikoff Lending on 4/19/22. I had never heard of this company until it popped up on my report. It shows that I opened an account with a $500 limit and that I have a $24 balance with $2 per month payments. I have not made any payments to them because I am not responsible for opening this account. After doing some research I read that it's supposed to be used to help build credit. I need no help building my credit as it was absolutely fine until these shysters came into my life. My Equifax score has dropped 104 points because of this. Thankfully Kikoff Lending doesn't show up at all through TransUnion, which just proves to me that it is fraudulent. I did try to file a dispute with Equifax but it got me nowhere. They basically said "Yep, it's your account." and that was the end of it. I thought my next move would be to call the number listed on my credit report but after reading through multiple complaints about Kikoff Lending, it seems like that would also be a waste of my time. I suppose I could email them but as others with my problem have said, I fear giving out more personal info to such a shady place. This situation is beyond frustrating to me because I have worked so hard to get my credit up after ruining it with school loans years ago. I just paid them off about a year ago and now this Kikoff Lending gets to swoop in and ruin my hard work just because they can. I'm honestly at a loss as to what my next move should be. I'm just hoping that with all the complaints against them, maybe the BBB can do something about this.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:I do not feel comfortable having any contact with Kikoff Lending because they have already proven themselves untrustworthy by allowing multiple to have their credit ruined through no fault of their own. This issue has affected too many people and it shouldn't be up to the individuals involved to resolve it. The problem is obviously bigger than that and needs to be investigated by an entity that actually has the resources to take this "company" down.

It makes no sense that I would open a "credit building" account when I already had "excellent" credit. Now it has tanked because of them. I am NOT paying on an account that I didn't open!

I got an alert that I had a missed payment on this account and I never opened this account. I need this off my credit asap its hurting my credit. i spoke with this company about 4months ago, after i realize there on my credit report as a new loan!i have never taken out a loan with this company and i don't need a loan period.i inform this company that my identity was stole some years back and this is a complete identity fraud!i provide them with the police report as well as any other information they were asking for as part of there company investigation. there response to me 2 months later, basically were the "CRIMINAL GOT MY INFORMATION CORRECT ON THE LOAN APP" SO THEY APPROVE THE LOAN SO UNDER THE *** I AM HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS LOAN!!..who give out a $120 loan , this is one of the high risk, money pit loan companies they target the poor! well am not poor and its not my loan. i never heard of this company and now they have the audacity to report to the credit bureau that my payments is late on a fraudulent loan. on top of this there stating they don't have a fraudulent claim live operator to talk to i find that very CONVENIENT! I WANT THIS FRAUDULENT LOAN OFF MY CREDIT REPORT AND THE LATE CLAIMS REMOVED AS WELL!..its quite shocking to give someone who suffering from identity fraud an insulting response such as the one i have gotten. Saturdai Amun, i have heard this from this company with my original complaint to there fraud dpartment. before i contact bbb to help me rectify the matter. i did leave a pdf of my original paperwork i submit to kickoff and police report of the original identity case. i'm shocked there original reply to my complaint was "IT SEEMS THAT ALL THE INFORMATION IS CORRECT FROM THE ONLINE APPLICATION SO YOUR HELD RESPONSIBLE!! utter disregard for criminal activies , everybody knows identity theft is usually done online! unfortunately its mine and yet it's been two years and i still get alerts that someone is trying to open up another fraudulent account. this company don't seem to care of the fraud associated with the account they approved. IT'S $120 WHO APPROVE A LOAN FOR WHAT AMOUNTS TO GAS MONEY!! ONCE AGAIN THIS IS NOT MY ACCOUNT IT WAS OBTAIN BY THE SAME PEOPLE WHO BROKE INTO MY CAR 2 YEARS AGO AND PROBABLY SOLD MY IDENTITY ON THE BLACK MARKET....THANKS KICKOFF FOR VICTIMIZING ME TWICE!!

We also thank you for your patience while Kikoff investigates the fraudulent account in question. We do apologize for this inconvenience and frustration you have experienced, but we appreciate the opportunity to reinvestigate this account for you. We understand your concern and do take matters such as this very seriously. Due to the nature of fraud of claims, this matter has been escalated to me, and I was happy to conduct the investigation and resolution personally.
To be approved for a Kikoff loan/credit account, an applicants identity/personal information must be verified. Since Kikoff does not conduct an upfront credit pull, it is possible that at times not all security freezes are detected at the application stage. As our company has been growing over the past year, verification procedures and safeguards have been actively updated - inclusive of better tools to detect fraud alerts without the need for a direct credit pull. We have also implemented new processes and tools in our investigation procedures as we continue to grow as a company. But even with the best possible verification process, we are aware that issues may still arise from time to time and support article information is not always updated/corrected as soon as we would like.
Based on the information included in your fraud claim we have determined there is clear and sufficient evidence to remove this tradeline from your account history. We received formal disputes via the credit bureaus, and they have already been processed/notified accordingly. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, as we understand how this situation can be concerning. We appreciate your patience as this investigation was conducted.

I have emailed multiple times. Kikoff offers no phone contact information readily available anywhere I can find online, in service agreements or otherwise. I was issued a "debit card" that was advertised to "help build your credit with every swipe". So far, all it has done has been to report to the credit bureaus as a secured credit card carrying a balance. This is not what was advertised. I have simply requested multiple times to be explained how the card actually functions so I may properly utilize it. This is a simple request that has gone ignored. I would also like to pay off my credit and loan balances and request a current, to date balance letter to provide a mortgage lender for a rapid re-score and with no apparent way to contact kikoff, that does not seem possible. I'm not sure how a creditor is legally in compliance with no way to communicate or request information from them.Business Response
