1 starVery disappointed with my experience using Squares self-checkout kiosk. Before buying, I spoke with their customer support and was told that a barcode scanner could be connected to the kiosk which was the main reason I decided to go with their product at our new store.After purchasing and trying to set everything up, I found out that this feature is actually not supported. When I contacted support again, they just said Sorry, its not possible. No solution, no accountability.This was clearly misleading information that led me to waste time and money. Not acceptable from a company of this size. Be cautious before buying double-check everything they promise you.Review fromDominique J

1 starThe experience I had came off to me as a big foreign scam. They accepted a credit card payment, then told me they had to hold the funds for 90 days. I ended up having to a full refund to the customer. Nobody speaks English when u call customer service and I talked to them a lot trying to figure it out. They also have no explanation on why they just shut u down. But they had no problems taking their fees. But couldnt release my funds for 90 days, for a reason they dont even know. And on top of it in order to sign up to it you are giving them all your personal information and bank information.Review fromLuis V

1 starSquare,the literally stole my money,I had 2 accounts with them I call customer service,3 times because they put my account on hold for no reason,and Put the money that I have on hold,the first to agents told me that I was gonna get my money in 60 days,past 70 days I call them back the other agent told me that he wasnt able to pull up my information,and theres no record of my phone calls or accounts,thats unbelievable,at the end I lost my money.If I could leave no star,I will do itReview fromHunter M

1 starI volunteer for a non-profit. I am on the Board of Directors. Another company, the one I work for uses Square and we haven't had any major issues with ******* I recommend Square. Big mistake. I sign up for a Square account for the non-profit. Double check all the information I enter. Happily chugging along.I eventually wonder why everytime I go to start the process to set up taking payments on their website account dashboard.... I get redirected back to the home dashboard?I eventually reach out to Square via chat. Weirdly, it says phone support is disabled? The individual over chat states that my account is deactivated. They could not give any explanation as to why except terms of service 12 & 13 (which basically states they can deactivate an account for any reason at any time)I was frustrated and opened an account ticket. I found their online support phone number.... They do have a phone support, why would they say it's unavailable?I would either get your account is deactivated and that's final or let me reach out and escalate this to account ********************. However, I still can't tell you why we deactivated your account. Also just so you know account ******************** is email only. Fast forward, Just got an email from account ******************** stating account deactivation is final with no explanation.... I will be advocating the company I work for to drop Square. You have wasted time out of my life that I will never get back. I would have been happy to go through a verification process and extensive one. 1 starSo my biggest customer asked me to get a card reader because she has to send out for checks this would make it easier,I eneded up buying the square card reader,As soon as she paid me over a week ago they have done nothing but play games asking for this and that but I properly gave them all my documents showing I'm a registered business owner. Now they are saying they shut my account down and are holding my hard earned money for 90 days.I have a baby due literally next month and am a small business so this money means alot. I asked them to refund the money to my customer so she could write me a check and they won't. This is literally insane they can do this, Turns out they do this alot. Charged me almost $250 for the transaction and now are holding the ******** it's illegal is insane...I would never recommend anyone using themReview fromHaley C

1 starSigned up as my husband has square for his business with no issues. My acct was deactivated before I even ordered my square reader. I missed the email and ordered a square reader. Attempted to take payments at an event and it kept telling me to order hardware. I emailed them on Saturday and was told that all I needed to do was verify information. Called today and was told my deactivation was final and there was nothing they could do and to review the email which is generic and does not give an explanation. I am a cottage bakery that has done 2 events. Square is a joke and I dont know what security measures I didn't meet but I will be finding another company to process credit cards with.Review fromBonnie T

1 starSquare's onboarding process is a joke! After 3 days on the phone trying to get through to someone who 1) speaks English and 2) can do anything about the problem, our account is still not working. First, the system set up 2 accounts under one email address. **************** (barely spoke English at all) told us that the first account was a "phantom" account, and that they would delete it so we could log in to the correct 2nd account with our email address. So far we have contacted them 3 times, sitting on hold over 3.5 hours each time!!! We were assured 3 times that the phantom first account had been deleted. Today we went to log in to square, and it was still broken. No way to log in to the real account, only the phantom account. We are on the phone again, and were just told to change the email address to a fake email address so that square can release our valid email address to be used to log in to the correct account. Their system now wants us to confirm the new fake email address. How in the world we can confirm a fake email address? I can't imagine having money locked up in the square processing system.... We are NOT ever using square. The fact that they can't even delete a phantom account on their own system scares me... it's a fundamental security issue. I can't even start on the out-sourcing of phone "support", and people who not only can't speak English, but speak as fast as possible which makes it even more impossible to understand them. (I'm sure they live somewhere in a 3rd world country with supervisors standing over them if they don't cut down call time.)Not getting my money caught up in this scam company!!! Goodbye square... and I had such high hopes for this company after being referred to them by a good friend. YIKES!!!!!Review fromSandra J

1 starI received a notification from Square that my account was pending deactivation, but the message gave no real explanation. I called customer service immediately and was connected to a representative I could barely understand. After being placed on hold for several minutes, he came back and still couldnt explain what was happening with my account.Frustrated, I asked to speak with a manager. After another long hold, I was transferred to someone named ******** the Merchant Engagement Manager. While she was a native English speaker, she was incredibly rude and dismissive. When I asked her to explain what was happening with my account and how to fix it, she simply told me to read your email. That email only referenced generic terms and still gave zero explanation for the issue. I asked again what I could do to resolve it, and she said the decision is final and my account would be deactivated on May 3rd. No reasoning, no path to resolution, no customer support whatsoever.This is by far the worst customer service Ive dealt with. ********************** has no accountability, no willingness to help, and treats their users like theyre disposable. I wouldnt trust this company with a lemonade stand, let alone business transactions. Look elsewherethis company is a nightmare.Review fromMichael L

1 starI contacted Square Up to ask about a charge on my account and they were not able to tell me who the merchant is even though I gave them a POS number. **************** told me they did not know where the company is located and suggested that I file a complaint with my bank. I am not sure they are legitimate but am very sure that they are not customer focused. I certainly will not use any merchant that uses Square UP
