    I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.  It is unfortunate it took a BBB review to get the attention and commitment toward refunding an errant charge but it was eventually corrected.

    *** been left with no other option but to engage an attorney to assist in recovering the STOLEN funds; the attorney fees incurred Carta will also be covering. The actions Carta has taken are cut and dry credit card fraud. Make no mistake, this is not an unfortunate breakdown in communication between Cartas departments; This is willing and purposeful fraud. I cannot imagine were the first company Carta has stolen from and certainly wont be the last.

    After researching and finding a telephone number, I called Eshares/Carta to inquire as to why my checking account had been deducted $3500.00 with the details included: " ESHARES *** PAYMENT" on 8/23/23. The representative on the phone told me that someone had signed up for their subscription service way back on 8/24/2019, and that ever since then they had been deducting $3500 every year (totaling $18,750.00 at this point). I informed the representative that I never authorized this, and was unaware that this had been occurring ever since 2018. I then asked for this money to be reimbursed to me, based on the above information. The representative went on to expain the benefits of their service, and how useful it might be. I then inquired as to whether or not any of the heretofore mentioned services had ever been accessed or used with this account (that was not set up nor authorized by me) and they confirmed to me that it had never been accessed or used. I then explained how reasonable it was for me to request and receive a refund for the total amount that they have been taking out of my account and they basically said no, while trying to persuade me to use the service and continue paying. Later I talked to my bookkeeper, who said she had called back in 2019 to cancel that subscription (because it was found by her to be a scam, and after researching the account with a representative that it was never authorized to be set up) and my bookkeeper told me that they said in 2019 that they would cancel the subscription. So not only did they misrepresent themselves, stating the account would be canceled, but they continued to steal money from me in the amount of $3500 each year until I became aware of Carta's predatory business model of "subscriptions" that will not & cannot be canceled, and as well their refusal to reimburse or refund monies collected in an unauthorized manner.
