      I previously rented from SF Rent and moved out of my apartment at *********************************************, on 9/8/2021. I have not received my security deposit. On 9/29 I received an email from *********************, Operations Project Manager, with an attached "initial estimate" of costs they planned to deduct from my deposit. This "estimate" included paint for walls that were supposedly damaged by me. The email goes on to identify: "However, please note that all of this is just an initial estimate and we will be reviewing everything again once repairs are completed to determine final actual charges."I replied to ***** email the same day I received it noting that the hallway painting was considered wear and tear and that I had also seen the apartment listed on their website for rent. No response.On 10/12 I sent a follow-up email asking when I could expect to receive my deposit, as it has been over 30 days since I moved out of the unit.

      The owner of *********, ***********************, is an imbecile. He's a slumlord and has no business owning properties. He doesn't believe in the word community because he thinks tenants that actually have each other's backs and want a better and safer living space is something of a vendetta to him. I just moved from one of his horrendous buildings and emailed him about my security deposit, which was only half that I got back. Part of what he took out was $240 for paint! I left my apartment better than what I got when I first moved in. In my opinion, he's a thief, and I definitely recommend you DO NOT rent from one of his properties. The only nice person that works for ** Rent is ****. She has always been very helpful and kind when I spoke with her. Over the years of living at the ************** building, I've put in work orders that didn't get fulfilled and when it did, it was horrible work except for a few maintenance men that actually knew what they were doing and who I think doesn't get paid enough to put up with ******************** attitude. The building was infested and probably still is with roaches, and there was trash that was never cleaned up right outside of tenant's doors. I've had a cough while living there because of mold, and since I've moved, it's gone away. He doesn't care about people, just getting a dollar any chance he gets. He wants to turn garages into more apartments, yet the structure of that building looks like it's about to fall to the ground. Trust me, I know, I've unfortunately lived there for years and seen the downfall of it. Absolutely disgusting to watch. Thank goodness I've moved from that place and into a beautiful building where the company actually takes care of their tenants. I just feel bad for my former neighbors/friends who are still dwelling at ************** and pray that they get out of there and into a safer and livable home. ***********************, the slumlord should be ashamed of himself
