Fraud Complaint Against La Mesa RV Location: ********************************************** Date of Incident: January/February 2025 Filed: February 21, 2025 I am submitting this complaint to report fraudulent practices by La Mesa RV in *********, **, during the purchase of my first RV. While parts of my experience were positive. The agreed purchase price was $89,995, and I provided a $1,000 deposit. However, this is where the issues began. The finance manager, ***, processed my deposit and, without my knowledge or consent, added a $2,850 sealant detail to the purchase agreement. I never agreed to this charge. The problems began when I arrived to sign the loan documents, only to discover the purchase price had inexplicably increased beyond the agreed $89,995. The *** provided no clear explanationno breakdown for taxes, registration, or title fees was listed. Upon closer review, I confirmed that the additional $2,850 sealant detail had been embedded in the total, a charge I had neither requested nor approved. Additionally, a cursory glance at La Mesa RVs BBB and Yelp reviews reveals a pattern of similar complaints, suggesting this dealership has a history of deceptive practices. Seeking resolution, I met with Regional Manager *** ***** to present the fraudulent documents and discuss the overcharges. His response was dismissive and unprofessionalhe refused to review the paperwork, explain the discrepancies, or engage in any meaningful dialogue. Instead, he stated, You signed it, so tough luck, before abruptly leaving the room. This was the worst customer service I have ever ************** is shocking that a company with 50 years in business continues to engage in such blatant and fraudulent practices without accountability. Their poor reputation, evidenced by countless negative reviews, seems irrelevant to them, likely because they prioritize short-term profits over integrity. I urge the appropriate authorities to investigate La Mesa RVBusiness Response

I need your assistance. We purchased the extended warranty for the Jayco Seneca 37M from Lamesa RV. We are now selling the *** and according to the contract, we can request a refund for the unused portion of the warranty. I've been calling daily, but no one answers my calls or returns my messages. Additionally, my emails have gone unanswered.Business Response

I have been attempting to cancel my warranty since February 3rd, and I have been getting the run around since. I was told when I purchased my RV that I could cancel it at any time and all I needed to do was send in a picture of the odometer which I did 7 days ago. I was promised I would get a document to sign within 24 hours and once that was signed the remaining 8.5+k would get paid to the bank. I have called every business day since Friday and left messages because I can never get anyone to answer the phone. So, for four days in a row, I have been calling and leaving messages that never get returned. I have also sent multiple emails to the entire finance department that have all gone ignored. I am positive that if I was attempting to purchase an RV my call would have been returned within an hour. This is appalling business practice. First call was on Feb 3rd no one answers the phone, and it automatically routed me to a message center and says I will be called back. Second call was on Feb 4th no one answers the phone, and it automatically routed me to a message center and says I will be called back. Third call was on Feb 5th no one answers the phone, and it automatically routed me to a message center and says I will be called back. Feb 5th emailed the finance department at the dealership to ask for help. Also, I called and left a message. Feb 6th - finally get a call back from the claims department that I have been calling since the 3rd. I am asking who I send the email to with the picture to begin the process of cancelling my warranty. The girl is annoyed when I start asking more questions and literally hangs up on me. Feb 6th Call the dealership and leave another message. Feb 7th Call the dealership and leave another message. Received a call back and did what is required to cancel the warranty.Feb 8th, 10th, 11th, 12th Called the dealership and left another message. Feb 13th Sent email. Planning to call again. Still getting radio silence.Business Response

When we bought our rv, we drove and saw a rv in the showroom. When we purchased it, they had to do some final things to it. When we came to pick it up they said the one we test drove and bought was sold online. They gave us a different one. Pieces in the rv fall off or are missing. Foam pieces in windows and seal are all rushed put together... you can tell it was done in a hurry. I want them to put it all together well and make this not a experience I regret and think about every time I use my rv.Business Response

****** ******/****** *****, a married couple, purchased our first RV, a new 2024 Entegra Odyssey RV, at La Mesa RV on Oct. 31, 2024. Before final documents were signed, we were, without prior notification, encouraged to sign a 3-part service agreement for 5 years for $20,000 before financing could be finalized. On later research, we discovered that most service contracts are significantly less. The contract provided for cancellation within 30 days. ****** called ************************ Nov. 15; they stated the contract must be cancelled by the dealership. On Monday, Nov. 18, left phone messages with La Mesa RV, with no response. We went ******* that evening; ***** stated to contact ***** ******, the warranty specialist, who was gone for the day. Message and email sent to ***** Nov. 19 (see attached email and cancellation form files). We went to ******* on Nov. 21 and signed and finalized all paperwork with *****. ***** stated a check would be sent to ******** in 2-3 weeks. We have had several ongoing e-mails to *****, with responses of "another 2-3 weeks"; last response stated the check would be sent to the bank the week of Jan. 6. No check and no settlement. We are 8 weeks into this process with multiple assurances the check would be sent. We have been paying interest on the $20K since Nov. 1. This is not the actions of an honest or reputable business.Customer Answer

I purchased a brand new class B from La Mesa RV on 12/14/24. I got it home, but then found the outlets inside the rig do not work. I also found that after a day of sitting the vehicle will not start. Dodge roadside assistance had a tow truck take the vehicle to a ************* center to be diagnosed. Per Dodge, the vehicle had an after market battery installed which is too small for this vehicle. This aftermarket part also nullifies the warranty. La Mesa is refusing to help me and I cannot pay to have my vehicle repaired. It is ******** responsibility because they sold me a brand new vehicle with incorrect parts.Business Response

November *****, 2024. Purchased ** from ****** in *******. Vent covers were installed incorrectly and drilled into the roof. Since I'm from out of state I had to take the ** to an rv repair shop to have the vent covers installed correctly and repair the roof to avoid further damage while continuing my drive back to **. I contacted La Mesa with pictures and the repair bill for $165.00 I was told I woul be reimbursed immediately. Over a month later and having contacted them twice, I have still not been reimbursed. All I'm asking is for the $165.00 reimbursement for having to pay to repair their shoddy work.Business Response

I purchased a 2017 Hurricane ** from ******* on Sept 21 or 22 2024.They told me that the ** was throughly inspection twice before the sell it. Once when they receive it and once before I would buy it. I told them that my biggest fear was having the ** with leaks or mechanical issues. They told me not to worry about it that they inspected.I believed it and purchased it.The day of the purchase they gave us a walk through to teach us how to operate the **.During the walk through we noticed a beeping and error message on the panel for the automatic jacks/levelers.They called a technician that told us that all it needed was a reset. He showed us how to do it and we believed that there was no other issues. We took the unit home and my husband noticed that it was beeping all the way home and the error message came back on. When we got home he did another reset and the message went away. Then within 14 days of having it we took it camping to find out the beeping and error message was still ************ was raining that day and we have a massive leak coming from the slide and also a leak from a light in the middle of the ** roof. All the things I was afraid of and they told me not to worry was happening.I contacted them right away. The sales person forward all the video proof I took of the problem and send it to the manager. After weeks of getting the run around and no one answering my calls I was finally able to talk to a manager named ****.He promised to take care of the ** and pay for the repairs. He told me to take it to their service center in ************** which I did.I went to get it and was supposed to be fixed but when we got there the problem was still happening. They had to call a tech to come out and see it again.I left it there and drove back home which is 104 miles away. They called me and said that the problem was the hydraulic system and it was *******.**** doesnt work there anymore and they refuse to pay for the repairs. I have videos but cant upload them here.Business Response

They have not reached out to me about this matter again. Last time I spoke with them they told me that there was nothing they can do for me except maybe make a new deal on a new ** which I will loose a lot of money on because they will not credit me the full price of the ** I purchased. That is because they will resell it and make even more money off it. I am not willing to loose over $25k that I have already spend on it. They dont want to pay for getting it fixed. I took the ** out of their service department because I could not do anything more to get them to pay for repairs. What I am looking for is for them to cover the cost of all the repairs needed.

Good afternoon,
After review, it does not appear this customer has coverage through any extended warranty or ***************** 15-day warranty that covers core components. Accordingly, the responsibility to pay for repairs to the coach would be with the consumer. We will contact the consumer to discuss the possibility of partial goodwill coverage.

I was told that I could not purchase any extended warranty because of the year of the ** (2017). I was told that the ** was inspected 2 times before it was being sold. Which was a lie because they would have notice all the issues. I was NEVER offended a 15 day warranty either. I notified them of the issues with the leaks within 2 weeks of the purchase. The issue of the **** lever was brought to their attention the same day of the sale which they even brought over a mechanic to see it. The mechanic did a reset and said it was fixed which was another lie. I believed him because he is the expert but he was not right. La mesa has not tried to contact me AT ALL since I have done the BBB complaint. They tell you they will call me but they never do. I dont trust anything they say because they lie and never follow through.Initial Complaint

In July my wife and I purchased a 2023 motorhome from La Mesa RV, ***********. Yes it was pre owned. Upon inspection we found a few items that the dealer agreed they would fix. The microwave, the slide topper. Although we walked through the unit upon taking possession we didnt get the opportunity to drive it prior. Once I drove it the front steering and suspension felt worn and the inner tire was worn. We also found soft spots in the floor and some other cosmetic issues, like the TV mount that had been repaired by dealer that had to be removed or it would break out a window. So I installed the right one. After all the items I have found and attempted to address with the dealer they told me it is a used unit and would not do anything for me. Most of the issues I have discovered are safety point inspection items proving that the dealer it selling unsafe units to customers. The dealer did have the unit front end alignment done and the report is a worn out drag link with no repair. The dealer took 4 months to replace the slide topper claiming the parts were on back order, but when they installed it on 12/06/2024 they gave the camper back to me with damage to the panels were they installed the topper. I address this with the service manager who told me I would have to file it with my insurance even though it happened in their shop. With all the problems I have found along with my time this camper is not worth the price we paid for it. I do have the purchase agreement and the recipes for all work performed.Business Response

Good afternoon, thank you for your correspondence. This customer purchased a used motorhome in July 2024 with a 15-day limited warranty covering engine, transmission, and rear-end only. In August 2024, this customer spoke with the corporate team about his concerns. The ************************ has since been able to work with this customer and has covered some services, such as work done at ****, out of goodwill. Unfortunately, there is no return policy applicable where the customer could return his coach. We are happy to continue working with the customer at our *********** location should he have additional concerns.
