My eyes are dry and red and after trying a handful of remedies, the last time we saw each other you prescribed an AseptiKits PALA Kit. Upon my on time arrival at 10:30AM, I became aware that there were about 25 - 30 people in line ahead of me. ... So I called the lab, not knowing exactly what I was supposed to do. As I had expected,I found out per the recorded message that these folks were in line waiting for a Covid-19 test. Since I was not, I walked up front to the check-in window and let them know why I was there. I was promptly dismissed and told to get back in line. Being obese with hypertension, I am always scrupulously careful regarding the virus and waiting in this line (even though we were outside on the balcony) made me quite anxious. People were not social distancing etc. After approximately 45 - 50 minutes, I was approaching the front, contemplating just leaving, and they called me up to the window. I filled out some very brief paperwork, paid the $360 via MasterCard and was escorted into a back room. The very polite technician / phlebotomist with her mask barely covering her nostrils set me up to draw blood. She put a tourniquet on my right arm and searched for a vein stating that I had a few really big good ones. She put the needle into one and immediately started complaining that there was "no flow". With the needle remaining in my arm, she pushed, pulled and redirected it for 3 or 4 minutes to no avail. She asked me whether or not I have ever had trouble drawing blood before, to which I replied "no". She decided to pull the needle out and try another vein. While putting a band-aid on the original spot, she dropped the band-aid packaging on the floor, bent over, picked it up and threw it in the trash. Without changing gloves, she reached for a new kit and started her second attempt. This resulted in almost exactly the same results. This time, she dropped the tourniquet on the floor, trashed it, and continued with the same gloves. She then thought maybe switching to my left arm would yield better results. However, then she noticed some protruding veins in my right hand and decided to try one of those. After a couple minutes of prodding and wiggling the needle around, blood starting flowing. I thought to myself that we'd shortly be finished. ... This would not be the case. As soon as the blood started flowing, she became startled and yanked the needle out claiming that my vein was bubbling up and looked like it was taking in air.It was at this point, she decided to switch arms to the left. She took her time finding an appropriate vein. She put the needle in and blood started flowing voluminously almost immediately. The first 8 or 9 vials filled up quite quickly. By the tenth, the flow started to slow significantly and it took quite some time to fill the last few. However, they were full and I was happy to be finished with the procedure which took approximately 35 minutes. The entire time, the door was wide open while dozens of people getting tested for Covid -19 paraded back and forth 4 feet in front of me.The technician / phlebotomist informed me to come back in 2 and 1/2, then 2 hours and the product would be finished and ready for me to pick up. I left the premises and came back in exactly 2 hours. A gentleman (whom I overheard telling another customer that he was the "owner") was at the check in window. I cut the Covid line and presented my ID and receipt informing him that I was there to pick up my Serum Tears. He politely asked me to hold on and went and got the technician / phlebotomist. She came out and apologized to me saying "Your blood came out so slow that it coagulated and I was unable to use it. Unfortunately, you'll have to come back. Would you like to make an appointment?" With frustration I replied "Not with you guys." At that point I just left.
