Better Place re-landscaped our backyard in June 2023. Its taken over a year to write the review because I wanted to let them directly resolve the issue before sharing my experience with the public.they only offered $3k to replace the tree and thats not enough. We are asking for $10k due to their negligence in 2 major parts of this project and we dont think they should be able to do work like this. We requested artificial turf to replace our grass backyard and retaining wall on the side yard blocking the downhill water drainage from our neighbor's yard. The work looked good after they were done and I was satisfied. However, in Sept, I noticed that our well established lemon tree, in the middle of the artificial turf, was losing leaves on one side. I consulted a fruit tree specialist who confirmed the root system was damaged during turf installation and we should cut half of the tree off and hope the rest survives. This tree had given us lemons all year around and never had an issue for 7 years.. I contacted Better Place and they came out to meet with us. They offered $500 and another $500 to pay for the repair of the tree. In my opinion, our lemon tree is priceless but replacing it with another well-established lemon tree would surely cost more than $500, although I settled then. Also, on their recommendation, they put a 3 ft circles around the base of the tree which later I found would not be enough as the roots are close to the surface of the ground and will suffocate by the artificial turf. None of this was disclosed to me as I relied on them as the landscape company to use their expertise to advise me. At a later date, they did return to increase the size of the space around the tree by 3ft.I still am not sure if my tree will survive, although, Im doing everything to save it. If I knew that Better Place would have not taken care of my existing landscaping and there was a chance that I would lose my lemon tree, I would have not hired them.
