Yancey roofing company is charging me for work that I dont believe was completed while installing my roof. I asked them to prove the work was done and they told me they could not and they would take the roof off to show me and charge me for doing that if I wanted. I asked for an explanation of the charges in details of labor and materials and I was told they dont do that. They created a new invoice to show me payment was due after contacting me a few months ago for work that was done late last year. I have all email correspondence saved for reference. I watched the work be done and never saw them put new nails in the house and brought it up the day the install was completed and was told he would look into it.

The following is our response to the Mr. ******** complaint.

Invoice:   See attached Invoice which is a summary of all costs and payments.  The date on the invoice is for internal purposes only and not related to when work was done.  All charges listed on the invoice were approved by the customer.  See attached back up documents.    The homeowner currently owes $832.76

Change Order Breakdown:  All change order work is Time and materials, which includes time to pick up fasteners, driving time, labor to set up necessary equipment and perform work.    The works out to 4 hours of labor per the terms of the contract plus materials (fasteners).

Uninspected work:    The change order states the work to be performed and was completed by our installers.   We are legally bound to have completed the work listed on the change order, which is not subject to the customer witnessing the work.     If the customer would like us to remove his roof to view the work, then he will be responsible for paying for the removal and installation.

All work is complete and was inspected by the Sacramento County Building Department.

Our office is filing a lien against the property as well as a lawsuit to collect the past due amount.

    Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because: Yancey did not resolve my issue. I never said I was not willing to pay. The company has never been willing to prove or give explanation to the work being done without trying to charge more money. The employee left the day work was completed with a final payment and told me he would get back to me with proof, his guess that day was the worker had nailed the roof while the other was laying the shingles down to go quicker to get done ahead of the rain and did not inquire again until almost a year later. The inspector never walked on the roof to check the ReNail was completed and said it wasnt necessary for the inspection. I know this because I asked him personally.  I question their integrity due to them claiming I had $7k worth of dry rot but not being able to show me the dry rot that needed to be changed and becoming upset when I said I wanted to see it and would do the repairs myself. The owner was unable to answer my questions about the dry rot and apologized for the employee being unprofessional. Claiming the dry rot estimate to be done was an always high to make room for error and customers enjoy getting money back instead of paying more. As I ask for validation in the work being done at first I got negative attitude and then a newly created bill, while expressing they could not show me a detailed explanation of the reason for the charges of $832 and now I get threats of a lawsuit and Lien on my property. Instead of any kind of compromise or resolution.
