On May 26, 2021, Tri-State Home Improvements, Inc., Riverside, CA, was contracted by Southern California Edison to install a dual pack A/C-Heater at my residence. They worked very rapidly and not knowing much about HVAC, I believed that the work was done as per city building & safety code. It was signed off as completed, but to my knowledge, I don't believe the assigned city inspector climbed on to the roof to physically inspect the work performed. Moving to the present, after the heavy rains of this winter, I noticed water spots on my living room ceiling and remember the lights flickering. I asked my neighbor, a licensed contractor, to inspect the roof and he did along with photos. He also inspected the attic and found water damage from several leaks from the roof. I called the City Building & Safety office and they sent an inspector to view my complaint. His inspection resulted in a near duplication my neighbor’s findings. The A/C unit was not fastened or caulked properly to the roof and allowed water to leak into the attic. Water leaks are also attributed to not caulking attached vents to the unit in a manner that prevents water leaking. The gas line that goes into the attic from the unit was not caulked, hence, water seeping into the attic. Unit wires were not enclosed and could cause an electrical short in due time. Overall, the installation was poorly done and appears that quality control from the site supervisor was non-existent. I seek compensation to get this work completed professionally and up to city code. Additionally, the ceiling in the living room needs replacing and assurance that the wiring in the lighting system was not affected so as to cause a short. I have called Tri-State at six (6) times and left messages. I also sent email to the CSR with no response on either request. According to the city inspector, this has been an ongoing issue with Tri-State as he's had to call them on other jobs with shoddy work.

Tri-State was hired to install a rooftop HVAC unit as part of the Southern California Edison energy assistance program. The new unit was never properly connected to the ductwork of the house this cold air was leaking into the attic. Also, the gas line to the unit was not installed properly and had several leaks. Finally, the condensate drain line was not installed per California building codes. Numerous attempts have been made to get Tri-State to correct their faulty work, but to date, they have not offered any resolution. What was supposed to save energy resulted in a tremendous increase in gas and electric charges since their faulty work was done.

The attached documents contain and show communications between me, Tri-State Home Improvement, Inc., and Southern Califonia Edison Energy Assistance program, to address and correct.
