Majority of my panels stopped working from mid March 2024 onwards and I have been getting the run around from Sunpower. It's been 40 days and so far with no resolution in sight. I have $$$$$'s worth of junk sitting on my roof not producing power. The panels are supposed to be covered with a 25 year warranty but Sunpower is dragging their feet with my installer. My installer says "Sunpower refused to pay for the repairs". In fact they told my installer to cancel my service appointment because they would not pay for the service. This is extremely shameful that Sunpower cannot stand behind their products and trying to deflect the issue knowing very well that they cheated the consumer by allowing faulty devices to be installed. The customer service team doesn't have any idea of what the issue is each time I call them. They start the process all over again asking me to repeat the troubleshooting steps. The My Sunpower app is supposed to show all "my cases" but each time I talk to the ** team and ask them why my case is not showing they tell me "we closed the case because we asked you to reach out to your installer". How can you close my case when the problem is not resolved? Are you just worried about closing cases to make your metrics look good or do you even care if the problem is resolved? I asked for a supervisor to call give me a call and so far no one has called me back. Today my installer called to give an update and the message was "Sunpower's escalation department denies that this is their product issue and they are dragging their feet". Sunpower - I don't need your sorry and your standard apology statement. My case id is *******. FIX MY PROBLEM ASAP. You know what the problem is and what needs to be replaced to get my panels working again.SunPower Corporation Response

It has been a nightmare to work with Sunpower when I had a problem. It was over two years of calling Sunpower, and their distributor, Airsun, when I noticed a problem. It took contacting my lawyer in July,2022, to motivate Sunpower to respond to my concern about my failing system. They found that a third of my solar system was bad. By the time they finished the repair on January 19, 2024, it had cost me over $15,000 in lawyer fees. Though I asked for reimbursement for these costs, as well as $3,777 of loss electricity costs in three years, and $5750 costs of additional solar panels and inverter failures I repaired out-of-pocket, there was not a peep from Sunpower to compensate. The tedious amount of time, pressure and money it took to make things right was extraordinary and out of hand.SunPower Corporation Response

The experience for me with Leasing the Power has been great and at ready have savings. A lot of people who think solar is bad, its because they dont do true studying behind a company. Plus installation was smooth and quick.Review from Donald J

All of these solar companies are a scam........they give you their sales pitch......a lot of their customers buy the system upfront......when you take that price and spread the cost out over 30 years, then you take in consideration the months during winter that you are drawing energy from the grid you are paying more for your electricity than unfortunately the electric company. Take some time to do the cost......it's a scam.SunPower Corporation Response

I have been such a SunPower fan, until the roof started leaking less than 6 months after the solar panels were installed. Our roofer told us that the panels had been installed incorrectly and had sunk into the roof, causing a depression in which water was gathering and leaking down into our bathroom. We needed to have the solar panels temporarily removed so that the roofer could fix the roof. We were worried about the expense, but since we were under warranty we assumed SunPower would make things right, and quickly. We contacted SunPower when there was a pin-sized hole in the roof. Now the hole is the length of my arm and is pouring water into buckets. They have dragged their feet every step of the way. A person finally came out and basically confirmed that, yup, it's leaking and it's their fault. He needs to "talk to a manager". When will the roof be repaired? They don't know. Who will pay for all the damage, both to the roof and to the bathroom ceiling and walls? They don't know. Every time I contact the SunPower line, I end up speaking to a woman in India who has a rooster crowing in the background so loud I can barely hear or understand her. She definitely doesn't know anything or care about my problem. I had to reach out to our salesman to ask HIM to find someone to talk to us; he's sending my photos and texts to the regional manager who, surprise, isn't calling or contacting us. I *do* get daily emails from SunPower support telling me that they'll happily bypass the warranty and get right on this if I want to pay $6,500 out-of-pocket. That's money I don't have and, again, we're under warranty and this is their fault. As I write this there is water streaming from our ceiling into a bucket. I wish I'd never heard of SunPower. I'm writing this review in the hopes that maybe someone at the company might care enough about reviews to call me.SunPower Corporation Response

I signed a contract for solar panels and battery back up in April of 2022. Installation finally commenced in December of 2023. As of this writing in April 2024, the system still is not functioning. The installation team has made more than ten visits to my home, for which I have had to stay at home all day unable to go to work, run errands, or take my kids out to do something. Half of my garage is taken up by unused materials from Sunpower. There are unpatched holes in the side of my brick house where they cored in the wrong location. Where they passed conduit through the walls of the house, they did not seal. I can see daylight through my walls around the numerous pipes. It has been this way for months. My project coordinator has been completely unhelpful. She sends an email every two weeks, likely prompted by some software, telling me she is going to let me know what is going on with my project. When I ask her any questions, she tells me she will ask someone and get back to me. Many times, she never does. Weve tried calling Sunpower to speak to someone else in hopes of getting answers. At one point, we were given the number of our project coordinators manager. We called him, he promised us things would be taken care of. They obviously have not been. A subsequent attempt to call him revealed he had blocked our number. To be clear, we have always been professional and respectful in our communication. I don't know why our number would be blocked. A subsequent attempt for answers from customer service resulted in them telling me my project coordinator would call me - even though I explained to them the project coordinator was unhelpful and I was trying to get answers anyway I could.I don't know what to do at this point. At no time has Sunpower been apologetic or made any effort to make things right. I was told my case was being prioritized, only to hear nothing for the last three weeks. We are really just at a loss on how to resolve this.SunPower Corporation Response

SunPower is worthless. I'm trying to refinance my HELOC loan, and need a subordination form, which is a temporary removal of the lien against my house by sunpower. They do not have a form for that, instead they insist I fill out their refinancing my home document, and note that it's for a HELOC loan. I've contacted them five times and said I'm not refinancing my home. And every time they tell me you're not feeling the form out correctly. You have to get a signature from the escrow company. Which doesn't exist. Thanks to them, I've not been able to secure a three-point drop in my HELOC loan. And I'm so angry I can't even see straight.Review from Edna F M

Sunpower is over billing and cannot justify or provide the reason for billing (potential fraud). The last Sunpower rep I spoke to for almost 2 hours said she has no idea about the bill and to allow 2 days (my initial Sunpower follow up was in writing sent weeks ago and finally I had to call) for them to investigate. In addition, I received an enormous ********************* last year and slated to get another large ********************* this year despite the fact I live in a new house with energy efficient appliances, do not have an EV, pool, etc. Also asked how do I know the solars work and Sunpower's rep referred me to the app, which still is unsettling considering my life style would not warrant such inflationary costs passed on to me and perhaps other customers. At any rate, Sunpower seems to be having financial problems and I hope their objective is not to visit those fiscal problems to its consumers.SunPower Corporation Response

i have had a very poor experience with sunpower. I had solar panels put on my roof and they have not been working for months. The squirrels ate through my wires and when I asked for service it took them months to even come down. Every time you call they say that someone will call you back which they never do. The squirrels did so much damage to the roof that we eventually had a flood. We paid out of pocket and asked them to fix the panels which thry did not. They have awful customer service and I would never recommend them to anyone. I plan to terminate my lease with them.
