    I signed up for a membershit with speakeasy fitness- *************** location... It withdrew from my account the day it was supposed to then they withdrew on the 1st of March, causing overdraft, then a week later 7th ( which they told me they would wait til i got paid the 8th) so they withdrew from my account again, so i went to my clubonline to pay which can take up to 2 days to process, The *************** Speakeasy wouldnt allow me to work out there so fine i paid it, when i spoke to the staff to make sure that they got the paymnent they confirmed, they did. So i worked out at the gym again. Upon speaking to the manager (wont say her name) she said We can withdraw from your account daily, until payment made, which is NOT what the contract says... When i asked for her boss ( district manager) she gave me an email address that was NOT even good... so when i arrived on 03/12/2024 to work out and the payment posted to my account and it was fine staff verified at 3 different locations they even said you should not have been charged again because nothing due until April 19 2024

    My 16 year-old son was coerced into signing a binding 12 month contract with Speakeasy in ********. He was told by the front desk to lie on the contract and say he was 18-years old so he would not have to bring in a parent to sign. Their website states that an ID is required and 18+ age requirement. I have gone in to show proof of his age to cancel the membership. I have emailed their management team with no resolution in sight. I cancelled his debit card and they have been harassing him daily to pay his monthly fee. This club is deceitful and it is unlawful to have a minor enter into a binding contract. They do not respond to my emails. The last correspondence I received was from a woman claiming to hand to over to their legal team. I have not heard back. STAY AWAY FROM THIS GYM.

    I was trying to cancel and close out my membership in-person and they had me create a profile on a third party account and jump through hoops just to cancel. I am still unsure of what the fee is because no one I talked to knew what the process was. I paid a final fee but they wanted me to pay additional fees for a guest pass account that I was paying monthly. I needed this to be straightforward but I had to send several emails and call several times just to find out what was going on. I ended up blocking them from my account because no one was clear.

    I canceled my membership at the ******** location at the end of May but they continued to charge me $30 a month for the last 3 months.

    I signed up for the Speakeasy Fitness LA on June 13. The staff deliberately misled me and omitted information concerning the terms of my contract. I asked for a copy of the contract via email. They said they'd send it to me, but I never got it. When I asked the staff if I could cancel the year long contract early because of my education, the told me they can cancel it anytime as long as I provided proof that I would be resisting there. I did exactly as they asked, yet they insist on making it as hard as possible for me to cancel. As for the contract itself, it was just flat out unreasonable. The only way I could cancel my gym membership, is if I joined the military, had an illness or injury that prevented me from working out, or moved at least 25 miles away from the school. My college dorm is **** miles away from the gym. I cannot suspend my college education, to go to a gym thats 16 miles away, for a couple of hours. I wish I was given proper information concerning my contract, so I could make a better and more educated decision. I am appalled and disappointed at the lack of assistance I recieved. How could such an establishment be so careless? It seems like they're trapping customers in contracts and deliberately neglecting to clarify said contracts to the consumer.

    I am filing a fraud complaint against Speakeasy Fitness Gym at ****************************************************************. On April 6,2023 I signed up for membership at this Gym. They only accepted cash or a personal check. I gave the gym a check for one year membership. The price was $295.00.On April 22,2023, I decided to cancel my membership. I went directly to the gym and cancelled. The representative processed the cancellation request and stated that I would receive an email, which I never received. . I also went to my account and submitted the cancellation request. I did not receive a response. I noticed that the check had not cleared in my account on April 25, 2023. I placed a stop payment.04/25/2023Check #0: Stop Payment Fee Automated Stop / Payment Fee -$10.00 04/24/2023Check #**** Rejected $295.00 04/24/2023Check #****: Check deposited 2 weeks later I received an email, stating that my monthly payment was due. I responded to the email stating that a request for cancellation has been submitted. I went to the gym, with the idea that perhaps I had to pay the processing fee, because I did not cancel in the first 3 days. The representative could not find my account in the system and stated that I did not have to pay the processing fee because it was not a monthly account. On 5/25/2023 I saw the following notation in my checking **********/25/2023External Withdrawal ************** ************ - CLUB FEES ************-$330.00 I did not authorize this withdrawal. I have not received any notification from Speakeasy justifying this behavior or their intention to bill me, for what I dont know. I notified my bank asking that the charge be reversed. How is it possible for an external withdrawal to be accomplished without consent? I have concluded that it is a case of fraud and I am asking the BBB to please investigate.Thank you for your consideration.***************************************

    I have been a member with this gym for 3 years and found the place to be satisfactory. The purpose for joining was due its location and all the amenities they'd offer. But now, the gym has gone way way down hill. The place has the potential to be a spectacular gym, but it seems the management does not care. If they did, i would not be filling this complaint. The place has a dampness smell to it probably due to all the rain seeping into the building via the roof. And the bathrooms are constantly out of tissue paper and dirty. It amazes me that some genius decided to open a new gym and not invest in the upkeep of the older ones. Going back to the roof, due to not repairing the roof it resulted in damaging the racket ball court floor which will probably resort to another big bill they have to pay. Who are the knuckleheads that runs this place and let this incident occurred. Additionally, the sauna has been out of service for close to year now and the jacuzzi works sporadically. The big kicker is they charge a yearly maintenance fee which is joke. Where is the maintenance? Where does this money goes towards to? It's definitely not maintenance based on my observation. I'm not big complainer, but I overheard many members complained about the same things and in the last six months they'll have disappeared and soon I will be gone too. I hope they sell this location to another entity that knows how to run a gym properly. Regards, A soon to be non-member.

    Speakeasy Gym in Reseda refuses to let me cancel membership contract and Management ignores my cancellation request and refuses to get back to me. However, they are in a breach of contract by failing to provide adequate work-out facility: roof leaking in two areas of the gym, something looking like smeared vomit and p*** on the side of the building at entrance, graphiti in front of the gym on the tree and mailbox, treadmill machines failing to respond when pressing buttons, trash on the stairs going into the gym and homeless encampmen trash in front of the parking lot. Gym charging enhancement fees monthly (which was a surprise) but doing no repairs or maintenance, and zero enhancements. I need to be allowed to quit this whole in the wall gym, and need BBB assistance. Management is completely ignoring my cancellation request. Help!
