    I received a notice from ****** that I had paid Evernote for an automatic subscription. I checked the evernote website and there was an account with my name, that I did not set up. I don't know how someone got my info but it seems that I was signed up for a subscription for whatever they do. I notified ****** and they said I needed to contact Evernote, I tried but their phone doesn't work and their email is just an automated reply saying they won;t reply. I have since read other people have had this same issue. I also checked their prices, and a yearly price is $139 not $217. SO I think I have been scammed.

    I used to subscribe to Evernote and regularly used their product, but I cancelled my subscription years ago. I continue to receive emails that they are having problems with my payment. There is no way to contact Evernote (email or phone), if you have to log on to their site to submit an issue. I no longer have an account, so I can't log on. I'm concerned that if I submit my email and get a new password, they'll assume I'm still a customer. I want ******************** to remove me from their records and cease sending emails requesting payment. I'm concerned it may damage my credit record.

    Thank you for your message.
    Based on our records, there is an Evernote account associated with your email address. This account was on an active annual subscription until July 8, 2025, when a renewal was attempted. However, the payment failed multiple times in the following days due to a canceled ****** billing agreement, meaning the account no longer had a valid payment method on file.
    As a result, we canceled the subscription on July 24, 2025, and the account was automatically downgraded to the Free plan on the same day. No further payment attempts will be made, and you will not be charged again.

    I have been unable to close my account. I followed ********************'s process but the captcha associated with email verification continuously fails, even though the matches are trivially easy. It appears that Evernote is deliberately preventing from closing my account. Fortunately for me, I have nothing of value in the account and no personally identifiable information, including the email address as it is a DuckDuckGo address used only for this account and which can be deactivated at the click of a button. I strongly recommend using "duck" addresses for any accounts you may want to be rid of in the future.

    I am rejecting this response because:


    You can't submit a ticket without going through the "verification" process which is what I reported as not working. I have also seen reports on the web that you can't submit a ticket unless you have a paid subscription, which i (fortunately) do not. 

    However,  i tried again and they had changed the captcha to a "place the puzzle piece" vs the "which pictures match" mechanism, and this one worked.

    I was then able to complete the remaining verification, terms, authorization,  and submission steps. At this point their messaging changed so my request to delete my account became the far more ambiguous "your request" with another sequence of actions to acknowledge that I really did want them to perform "your request". Finally i was informed that "your request" has been submitted and I got an email to that effect and that I would get another email when "your request" had been completed. 

    So at this point I have no idea if they will actually delete my account. The process was so complicated,  convoluted,  and opaque that there are multiple points where they could say this or that wasn't done properly so they couldn't complete "your request".

    As I said before,  I had nothing of particular value there and I protected myself from identity mischief through use of the *** mailer service but I'm disgusted by what i experienced trying to close my account.

    I. I created a trial on June 17, 2025 2. Within a couple of hours, I realized the product was not for me.3. I selected Cancel Account on the first screen, which was itself difficult to find. I gave the reason on the second screen. 4. I believed that I had cancelled the account.5. On July 4, the company charged me $287.31 Canadian.6. I was surprised. I went to ******, which suggested that I contact them by email. 7. No response from Evernote for 11 days to my email.8. Yesterday, I found a contact form on the site and wrote to the press and partnership groups at Evernote. 9. No answer from yesterday's contact requests.10. It is clear from usage records that I stopped using the system when I said I did on June 27. 11. It is clear that Evernote has a glitchy multi-cancellation process, making it difficult to cancel. 12. Again, I tried cancelling through the same process that I did on June 27, and this time it "took" or at least it took me to new screens that the system did not take me to when I originally tried to cancel on June *****. I went back to ****** today to start a refund request with them, and this new message was there instead:"Evernote values your satisfaction. So that your billing and service needs are met as quickly as possible, please reach out to us here: "********************************************************** 14. I try to follow this link to see if it is different than the contact form I filled out yesterday on the site. Here is the response I get."Evernote is temporarily unavailable.We are working to restore service as quickly as possible. You may still be able to access your notes using the Evernote desktop or mobile app, but you will be unable to sync or share your notes until service is restored."15. This is abysmal customer care for a service you are asking $287.31 for. 16. The system has been designed to make it so difficult to cancel or get a response from them that it is tantamount to cheating customers. 17. I want an immediate refund.

    We have reviewed the customer's complaint and the associated account records.
    The customer initiated an ******************** trial subscription on June 27, 2025, which included a 7-day trial period. The subscription was not canceled within this period, and the full subscription fee was charged on July 4, 2025.
    On July 5, the customer canceled the ****** billing agreement, which also canceled the subscription on our end. This action occurred after the payment had already been processed.

    We found no record of any customer support requests submitted from either of the two customers ******************** accounts. Our refund process is automated: had the customer contacted us via our support channels, a refund could have been issued immediately.

    The customer mentioned service unavailability while attempting to contact us. Our records do not show any service outage that would have prevented access to our support portal during the relevant period.
    We have refunded the full amount. The customer's account is now downgraded to the Free version.

    - Please provide us with the email address linked to the Evernote account you are trying to access. The email address used here for the BBB complaint is not tied to any recent customer support ticket.
    - If you have a ticket number from our support team, please share that as well.
    In cases like this, its highly likely that you may have accessed the wrong Evernote account, which could appear empty if your notes are in a different account.

    I have tried to cancel the subscription to Evernote. I tried and failed last year, so today I was determined to finally cancel the subscription and ask for a refund. The company does not have a customer service phone number. I went to the Evernote web page to find out the prices I needed to follow to accomplish these tasks. It took me almost two hours to fill out and submit the form. Evernote purposely makes cancellation and refund requests purposely obtuse in order to discourage cancellation and refund.

    Thanks for providing more details. This confirms that there are at least two different Evernote accounts.

    The first Evernote account is associated with the ********************************* email address. This account is Free, so if you attempt to log into multiple devices with this account, it's expected to see the paywall that invites to upgrade the subscription.

    A second Evernote account is associated with the ************************ email address. This account is on a Personal subscription, paid via iTunes, and can log into multiple devices.

    I have been unable to log into my account and their system is a nightmare. I have used their "Contact Us" system an multiple occasions and they have NEVER gotten back to me or resolved my issue at their end.I finally contacted my ******************* and was able to successfully dispute 4 months of charges and eliminate EverNote's ability to submit a charge.

    If you could share with us the email address linked to the Evernote account or used to create the customer support ticket, or the ticket number, we could verify what happened.
    In general, tickets initially receive an automatic email that mentions the most common troubleshooting steps. If these steps do not resolve the issue, the email also states that you just need to reply to the email to get in touch with a customer support agent. Thank you for your collaboration.

    I have used the free version of Evernote for years. In December 2024 I received a notice that my renewal was not received. Further research told me that they now only allow one device on a free account. In past years it was 3 devices. I submitted payment of $77.99 to "renew" my account for 3 devices. When I renewed, I used my current primary email of *************** I still was unable to get into my account. I contacted them the ONLY way possible, through a customer service ticket request in the app. The support ticket asked for all emails. I listed the two that I have: ************** as well as ******************* They replied that I had opened a new account because I did not use the same email I originally opened the account with (**************). They said they were unable to transfer my payment from one account to the other. They instructed me to request a refund for the *** account and send payment for the ***** account. I did that. They refunded the first payment. But even after they received the second payment, I am still locked out of both accounts. I only need/want the oldest account with the most files, which they have told me is the ***** account. I sent them a certified letter with return receipt, enclosing proof of both payments and the one refund. Their "office address" turned out to be a PO box, so my letter is either still sitting there, or they did not send me the return receipt. Now I am locked out of the app for both email accounts and they have not responded to my last email, sent to them in March, explaining that I cannot access either account. I requested either access to my oldest account or a refund. I PREFER ACCESS TO MY FILES! At this point, I have no way to reach Evernote. I hope you can help, otherwise I am out $77.99 and all the files I have stored there for probably 10 years or more. Below I selected "Delivery" as desired settlement, meaning delivery/access to my account and files. Thank you for any help.
