On December 21, 2020, I took my 2010 Dodge Charger SRT 8 to *********************, the owner of Ruffner Transmission, for an engine repair. The initial quote was $8,202, and the engine replacement was completed on February 22, 2021. However, on March 26, 2021, my Charger shut off while I was driving. ****** asked me to bring the car in.On April 17, 2021, ****** said the engine was on order. By May 21, 2021, he mentioned the vendor needed the engine to match it, and no motors were available. On July 1, 2021, ****** received a newly rebuilt engine and started reassembly. He mentioned I needed new fuel injectors. As the repair process dragged on, I was left with no choice but to rent a car from *****, incurring a significant cost of $1,200 by July 23. While ****** did cover a portion of the additional costs, amounting to $ ******, I found this compensation to be inadequate. The car took a total of 23 days to repair, adding to my financial strain. The check engine light appeared on August 13, 2021, and the car started shutting off randomly. ****** first blamed the O2 sensors and then suggested the catalytic converters were at fault. After removing them, the issue persisted. ****** denied ever suggesting this. By May 12, 2022, the car was still shutting off, and the transmission failed, costing $5,000 to repair. On December 4, 2022, ****** stated he would take the car to Dodge for diagnosis but never followed up. He later told me to handle it myself. On December 13, 2022, he sent me recall notices from ***** but stopped trying to fix the issue himself.Several months later, another mechanic successfully resolved the issue in just two days, at a cost of $400. The new shop disassembled the motor and confirmed that it was indeed assembled incorrectly, leading to the multitude of issues I've experienced.

Around August of last year my transmission went out in *********. I went to the best shop I could find. Which based on reviews was Ruffner Transmission. Initially he said he could have my transmission done that day. It ended up taking a few days. He put in a rebuilt transmission with ******* mile warranty for 3500$ soon later it started acting up, so I called and he said to bring it in. I live in Washington so I had to plan a trip down there to bring it in. Which I did. When I brought it in with video evidence it was fully slipping out of gear. He refused to acknowledge it and only changed a sensor. Soon later when I was headed back it got stuck in gear and when I called him he said it was my problem. Once I got home the transmission fully stopped working. Now when I call him he says he went out of business. Other people have seemed to have the same experience with him. Not sure how he has good reviews.

On Thursday after work on September 8, ****, I stopped at 5:45pm to Ruffner Transmission for a transmission flush quote and possible appointment. My car was at over 80K miles, so I knew it was due for a flush. The owner said he would have to test drive my vehicle prior to quoting me a price, which was strange to me, but I lent him my key. He took off down Mission Avenue at full speed, and he was gone for several minutes. When he returned, he tried to convince me that my transmission was shot and I needed a new one. He quoted me $6K and six weeks lead time on a refurbished transmission, stating that a new one would take longer and cost more. I was very upset and worried, so I went for a second and third opinion, finally ending up at AAMCO in San ******* where my transmission was flushed for $179, and it has been running like a dream ever since. There are no blown transmission drums and never were; I was assured of this by AAMCO and my own experience with my car. This dealer is a terrible liar. Many of his Yelp reviews say the same thing. He is a scammer, who is extremely dishonest and should not have an A+ rating with such an unconscionable practice of lying to customers and scribbling highly inflated and dishonest quotes on random sheets of paper, rather than on business stationary. He knew he was lying, so refused to put it on company letterhead.

    Business Response

Thank you! for the heads up as a transmission specialist, any time a customer complains about a ********************** slipping, me or my technicians must test drive and scan vehicle ether for faulty codes check fluid condition and verify transmission is in good condition to do service on. To our expertise and knowledge doing a fluid change to a transmission thats has internal damage it must be properly diagnosed and service. This vehicle at the time the customer show up were not able to do anything did advise customer to return and leave the vehicle to do that type of service also did advise that fluid smell burn and transmission slipped on test drive. We did NOT do anything or service transmission at time client came in do to time. Any vehicle that needs transmission service must be done in proper timing we just dont jum on a vehicle and start doing service in a hurry just coz his got no time to come inn, in proper schedule or appointment. All we can do is advise.
