Kaiser ************ Optical unconscionably RIPPED ME OFF for $249. I purchased a pair of eye glass lenses and provided my own frames. The prescription was so far off the lenses were not useable. It was during Covid when you could only enter the optical department by appointment. Absolutely no walk-ins allowed. The first available appointment cut the return deadline to within two days of it no longer being allowed, however I was within the deadline. The optical department said I was too late and declined to give me a refund based on the case worker believing I had 30 days from day of purchase. I downloaded FROM THE KAISER WEBSITE showing their policy is in fact ***************************************** the mail, not the day of purchase.I filed a complaint and submitted copies of their policy (downloaded from their website) as well as copies of my refund request within the deadline. I know my grievance was never actually investigated because they denied my appeals three times in spite of the fact I provided hard copy concrete PROOF that I was owed a refund.Beware people, especially senior citizens such as myself. Kaiser has no problem ripping you off! If there were a zero star option that is what Kaiser Permanente ************ Optical and Kaiser Permanente ********** ******************* actually deserves in this case.

Kaiser is intentionally unethical. They go without taking internal controls with their interdepartental staffing. They lack "Segregation of duties". Supply rooms experience shrinkage, HIPPAA violations ate causing misdirected outsourcing of the patients to proper care. Social Work staff are taking favorite on call nursing patients and refusing to give them general practitioner appointments. Scrub staff people gain access to storage and supplies and administer general anesthetics without proper authorization first. Medical staff are permitted to implement psychiatric decisions to please themselves at the non monetary expenses of medical patients after already having them triaged and signed in for something non psychiatric in nature. Written arbitration requests are ignored. Subgroup procedures without invoice occur within Kaiser facility without asking patients first.

There is financial elder abuse scam at Kaiser VisionEssentials San *************************. The rouge operators are discriminating targeted elderly and minorities members of the Kaiser ******** senior advantage plan. Specifically this VisionEssentials branch are withholding post cataract surgeries benefits and substituting the 24 months membership $320 to pay for the free eyeglasses per ******** guidelines. There are no oversight controls over the malfeasances at this VisionEssentials from the Kaiser management. The Kaiser ophthalmology department does not activate the post cataract surgeries benefits nor do they ensure their patients actually received the $129 per eye afterward, or even inform their patients of the $129 benefit. Kaiser EOC book does not mentioned the dollar amount. Until November 2021 Kaiser member services representatives could not tell you what the post cataract surgeries benefits are.Supplemental vision benefits are not displayed in VisionEssentials members account. This total lack of benefits information facilitated any discrimination and malfeasances at VisionEssentials ****************.The above has happened to me, a member of Kaiser ******** seniors advantage plan. I have spent over six months trying to get my entitled benefits. Kaiser admitted recently my two post cataract surgeries benefits were never activated. That admission was verbal.Contact *************** office if you or your loved ones did not received post cataract surgeries benefits at Kaiser VisionEssentials.

This comment is for Kaiser Permanente's Medical Practice/ Benefits coverage deception. I called to make an annual eye exam appointment. I specifically asked if it mattered if I used a Kaiser Provider/ eye clinic or if I could go anywhere. Of course the lady of the phone said I HAD to come into the Kaiser eye clinic and there would be a $30 dollar ***pay. I asked if I had an annual eye exam included as part of my benefits - why is there a *** pay? I was simply told there is a $30 dollar *** pay. So, OK. I come to appointment and pay $30. Then I go over to pick out frames etc., with the Kaiser coverage I had to pay $267 for plain old line bifocals with a minimal RX. Then a couple days later I get a bill in the mail for $210 for the provider visit, for an annual eye exam. So these glasses cost me $500!!! This is misleading, it cost more to have this insurance than to not have insurance and simply go to a local eye doctor. There was no offer of upfront cost explanation. If I was made aware of these costs I would have never engaged with Kaiser. And I specifically ASKED if an annual eye exam was included with my coverage. This is the only time I've used this Kaiser insurance coverage In the last two years and I'm dropping It. November is when I can change my Insurance provider at work and you bet I'm dropping Kaiser. Every time a new employee askes me for my opinion on which insurance provider to choose, I will tell them this story. $500 for an annual eye exam & a pair of glasses ... And that's with Kaiser insurance coverage ... Kaiser Permanente = might as well just go to Wal-Mart. When I asked if I an annual eye exam coverage included with my benefits, that was the time to offer a cost estimate/ explanation of costs for standard services provided during a basic annual eye exam, ie. provider visit approx. $240 + frames (minimum of $200).
