I hired Athem in end of June or July. I was assigned a person by the name of M**** ***** ###-###-####. Her duties were to help me with any PDF she sent me. I would call her over and over and leave VM’s. Did she call me back ever no. She wouldn’t communicate with me ever then an envelope came returning all my info. 1099 and such without any explanation why. Nothing. She sent a PDF with paperwork the same I had already done but added to this she wanted to know of my trucking company, how many trucks and etc. I don’t own any trucking business. Then I got a Text from a woman named Roberta asking for 2 documents. And put them in the return envelope M**** sent. That’s not what I got. I got all my information back. Called Roberta Flores and told her M**** didn’t send me any such thing. Where Robert’s got involved I don’t know why. Then she said M**** is sending it out Monday. At that time I was completely stressed out and I thought I was having a breakdown. No one was communicating with me. I paid this organization $3,450. I’m asking for it back. Having communication has to be going on in all areas of our lives. This company has done me a great disservice. I’m 75. I don’t need this Thank you I have sent a text firing all people I mentioned plus Headquarters. I followed it up with a handwritten letter sent via US Postal serviceBusiness response

I have been working with the Anthem Tax Service team for roughly two years. On the front end they were extremely responsive and confident that solving my tax issues was a breeze. I was promised that at the very least they could remove all interest and penalties (which would have been significant). Fast forward to present... two years have gone by, I've spent close to $8,000 and can rarely get an email returned. It wasn't until last week when I finally was able to speak to their tax resolution person! Absolutely deceptive practices, predatory tactics, and a take your money and run scam. The only option that they recommend was to continue along with the payment plan that I established with the IRS prior to entering into the services. They prey on emotional distress, highlight potential consequences, and will extort individuals already in a complex situation.Business response

I hired this company and paid $4600 based on the amount that I owed. I ended up paying half the balance and they resolved the rest. After paying, I was told by my account manager that I should receive a refund because the balance they were working on was lowered. It has been over a year and no refund. Additionally, they tried to justify keeping the difference by saying they had to separate my account and thus, they should keep the difference because there would have been a fee to do this. I asked what's the fee? They had no answer. Additionally, there was no discussion or agreement with this. Their service was good for the balance they worked on, but they owe me a refund.Business response

The morning my husband committed suicide my children and I lost our home of 43 yrs in the historic district of BBC Columbus,Ga. My son came to move me to San Antonio, Tx. During the move of course Paperwork went missing. I immediately started to get things together to see what we owed since I had no knowledge because my husband handled all finances. I hired Nationwide Tax Consultants on 3/16/17 spoke with John Riff and of $1260 and ended up with nothing. I then hired Anthem Tax Services on 7/11/18, spoke with Eric Parker, paid $1500, they said I owed $6900 and I would end up paying hardly anything. I was ecstatic for someone to have my back especially with all of my mental health! During the years I spoke with Eric Parker, Catherine Carbello, Arielle, Yawar Jafri, Alisha Sideack, Elizabeth Lambert, Clara Velez and Barry Holly. They knew about my health and knew I needed this off my back and I wanted to get my taxes paid! It was always send me all letters you get from the IRS and don’t pay anything until we tell you but Mr Holly told me I was lying. Finally on 5/28/24 I spoke with Mr Holly who informed me I owed 21,884.90 and my resolution was 918.00 per month for 27mo. I said no way can I afford that and he said well, that’s your resolution!! I decided for the first time to go online and check, with my surprise I only owed 8374.83. I had a 2nd call and Mr Holly said that was wrong. I decided to call the IRS, I spoke with Mrs Lewis on 6/18/24 and she concurred that my account was correct. She told me not to have anything else to do with Anthem and gave me the # for pmt arrangements which Mr Holly had said I could not make. At that moment I was happy and mad at the same time. I would like my $1500 back, an apology from Anthem and all persons included and some form of settlement for my fear, anxiety and depression during all of those years where I probably could have taken care of it on my own. He wanted to discuss my complaint, but I had to fly out of state for my sister’s funeral and just last night got back home. I let Mr. Lewis know I would call him this afternoon to discuss my complaint. I just got home and will call him at 4:30.

I hired Anthem Tax services to help me with a large tax bill. I paid them $3,200.00 on 4/23/24. I spoke with E*** ******* and he requested a copy of my Tax return. I sent him the tax return as requested. several weeks went by and I get an email from Eric asking for my tax return. I reply telling him that I have already sent. I hear nothing so I call the office and ask for Bradley. I am told that he is out on a Leave of Absence and that someone is supposed to call me. This is a scam operation! They took $3200 and provided ZERO services. Now the IRS is accruing daily penalties because they told me NOT to work directly with the IRS! Its as if they are creating the problem for themselves to fix!Business response

It's Todd from The Reputation MD. I am very confused on your response. I called you. You answered. I introduced myself and you hung up on me. How is that bullying? How is that aggressive? At no time did I ever mention removing a review. In fact, if you know anything about the BBB, complaints cannot be removed. So, your fabricated story doesn't track. If you would like to not get emotional and have a real conversation, I would be happy to. But I will not allow you to spread misinformation. Want to try this again?

I am rejecting this response because: it is not a refund. They promised a refund. Said they will not refund until I sign a form removing my rights. This is a blackmail and bullying tactic. They disputed my attempt to dispute the credit card charges and are trying to force me again to sign their forms waiving my rights. I don’t agree with their refund and I have an issue with their tactics of charging for unnecessary services and their incompetence that caused extra work to be done. Once I have the refund I will pursue remedies to dispute the amount not refunded. I have told them this and because I plan to alert the IRS and others of their unscrupulous activities which I verified with phone conversations with the IRS on my account which I shared with them now they won’t refund me unless I waive my rights to pursue those legally entitled actions.
having some strange man call me and him repeatedly calling me and texting and emailing makes me full bullied now by 2 business.So now you want to belittle my feelings and tell me what I do and do not feel?
anthem needs to let the disputes go through

Signed up for Anthem Tax services on 4/25 was quoted $6200.00 for a tax Debt of $30,000. Everything was very quick in the beginning especially them deducting the funds. After a “case manager” was assigned we spoke and I was told it could take 4-6 months for resolution or to hear from the IRS. I heard from my case manager the following month to fill out paperwork, I still have all the text messages after I filled the paper work I did not hear from her again. Her name was Suzanne Lewis. May 23rd I received a message saying she was out sick, sent the forms and did not receive confirmation until May 31st. Did not received another message until October 20th after I text her October 10th. December 4th I start receiving more mail from the IRS and I reach out now they are apparently “waiting for signatures” Mind you I have not spoke to a Tax Attorney this entire time (8 Months) April 2023 -December 2023. I called to speak to someone in the morning because it was ridiculous at this point. Spoke to Gina who was trying to mitigate the situation as the messages between me and Suzanne had become out of hand even to the point she was disrespectful of me, Suzanne made appointments for me and I said that did not work for me and she said well this mustn’t be important to you after I WAS the one who had asked for an appointment with the “attorney”. They assigned a new “case manager” who has not responded in weeks as well - go figure.At this point I received an intent to Levy from the IRS in which I need to stop on my own and anthem is not getting back to me. Anthem has YET to provide any correspondence from the IRS that they have had on their own. If I was going to do all the work why on earth would I pay a company $6200. Stay as far away as possible. It has been over a year and nothing has been resolved with this company and I am now at risk for wage garnishment and levy of my property.Business response

I called Anthem because I was 7 years behind on my taxes. Anyone knowing this especially a tax company would know or assume there is a late fee or penalty. After I called and told them I was 7 years behind they so quickly told its all good. $3500 and got me on the phone with irs I was told and made a date in like 30 days that I would have all info and file..... this all happened in less than 10 minutes. I was kinda in tears but was told it all good. We got this for you. They did nothing more than my I could have done. I never got a call explaining the bottom line on if I owe or not. I called and was laughed at on the phone 2 times by Anthem. And to this day I still haven't got a clear answer from them. At this I'm looking for another tax forgiveness company that can help. I would recommend Anthem Tax Service to anyone!Business response

We here at Anthem take consumer concerns very seriously. In the case with this client, the consumer initially hired Anthem Tax to get caught up on his delinquent tax filings. The signed agreement confirms this. The initial fee did not include resolution as consumer believes that it did. As a compromise, Anthem offered to handle resolution at a discounted rate, but consumer declined. The tax returns are done. Anthem has performed according to contract. Anthem simply cannot perform resolution at no additional cost because consumer misunderstood.

I contracted Anthem Tax Services to help me settle a tax problem with the Virginia Employment Commission in august of 2023. They had me contract with Lending Point Financial Services as a way to pay them, which I have been doing since September of 2023 at the rate of 202.00 per month. Originally, Anthem Tax services told me the amount would be $4,000.00 but Lending Point did the loan for $6,000.00. I questioned a representative from Anthem, D**** ****** ******* about this and he stated he would have someone from their accounting office to get in touch with me about this. this has not happened. The whole procedure seems like a scam. I have had two people over time acting as case managers asking me the same questions. They can't get in touch with the Employment Commission because they don't have the correct account number. I have given them this information a number of times specifically on Employment Commission Stationary and Anthem gives me the same excuse. Then they tell me they have been trying to work the Virginia Department of Taxation about this matter and I have repeatedly told them it has nothing to do with the Department of Taxation but the Virginia Employment Commission. They are separate organizations. I contacted Mr. R***** ******* on March 27, 2024 and have yet to hear from him. Again, the only time this organization has contacted me has been to ask the same question so I will think they are doing something.Business response

I am rejecting this response because:It has almost been two years and Anthem has finally bothered to contact me after I made the complaint. I tried to contact the person who is suppose to be my case manager weeks before I contacted the BBB but he never got in touch with me. I feel the only reason Anthem is trying to get in touch with me is because I made the complaint. They haven't done a thing and I would like a refund.

It's important for the consumer to understand how the Better Business Bureau works. They act as mediators to help try to resolve issues. They are not here to try to give consumers a forum to somehow provide perceived leverage by demanding refunds and not trying to work things out. We have reached out to the consumer a total of 8 times in the past three days and have never heard back. However, when the BBB emailed the consumer, he responded right away showing that he is getting our messages. He even admits to this in his last response. If consumer is unwilling to respond to our third-party mediator, we simply can't help him.Customer response

Over that period of time they have only contacted me to ask the same question like they are trying to pacify me as if they are /were doing something. Then I get emails from someone at the Reputation MD who when I try to pull up their website I get the response it is not active. Also I couldn't get information on their representative. For what Anthem has done, how can I trust them?

I paid this service $30,000.00 in 2020 to resolve back tax debts that accrued in the midst of a catastrophic illness and family deaths. I provided them with all of the information they requested, have repeatedly emphasized my desire to be compliant and address the situation and have been responsive to Anthem’s requests. They led me to believe that my back taxes had been substantially addressed and that upon my providing them with additional information they would make the remaining filings and finish my case. I provided them with that information within three weeks of the request. At the time they said I probably didn’t owe anything more. In February I received a notice of a potential levy, which I advised them of as soon as I got it. I asked them for a plan and attempted to get in touch with them repeatedly. They said they were speaking to the state on my behalf. They did absolutely nothing. They have not responded to any of my emails or messages. They have not negotiated with the state or irs. They just took my money. Now I’m facing levies and holds on my accounts and I am still not hearing from them. This has been a four year process! They said it would take one year. And that if I wasn’t happy that I could be refunded. The thing is, I need them to finish this job. I absolutely want to resolve my taxes and be and become compliant. I have been looking for a fresh start , which they said I would be eligible to receive. However I am right now in the exact same place I’ve been in. This business should be shut down. Their lack of response has made a bad situation much worse for me personally and professionally.Business response
