1 starComplaint Summary: Bait-and-Switch, Mis***resentation, and Unethical Conduct On July 8, 2025, STG Auto Group Montclair contacted me unsolicited about buying my 2019 Jaguar F-Pace for my full asking price of $15,000. After reviewing over 50 photos, their in-house mechanic approved the vehicle. They ******* a purchase contract and $15,000 check with instructions not to deposit until they received both the car and the title.I agreed. A few days later, two *** employees came to my home, did another inspection, took more photos, and took possession of the vehicle and signed title. I was told I could now deposit the check I assumed the deal was done.Four days later, a *** named ****** called, claiming their mechanic found "issues" and they were reducing their offer to $13,000. This was a bait-and-switch tactic after already taking my car and title. I declined. After that, STG ghosted me ignoring calls and texts.Eventually, they told me to come retrieve my car, offering no apology, explanation, or delivery. I drove 1.5 hours to get it myself. That same day, I went to CarMax, who inspected the vehicle and offered me $15,000 on the spot proving my car was fairly priced and STGs issues were false.Resolution Sought:I ask the Better Business Bureau to investigate STG Auto Group for:Deceptive bait-and-switch tactics Taking my car and title under false pretenses Failing to honor a written agreement Ceasing communication after I refused their lower offer Forcing me to retrieve my own vehicle Their actions may violate California Civil Code 1572 and ********************** Codes ***** & ******** filing this to warn others and help prevent similar unethical conduct by this dealership.Review fromPaul D

1 starAvoid STG Auto Group at all costs. Their low prices come with a huge hidden costdeceptive sales tactics, broken promises, and abysmal customer ********** husband and I bought a 2021 *** X5 from their Montclair location in February 2025. We drove from ********* for what looked like a great deal. After the test drive, the price suddenly jumped nearly $10K over listing with a list of add-ons we didnt ask fortint, ceramic coating, *** tracker, service package, and more. After hours of negotiation, we agreed to pay about $1K over for tint, ceramic coating, a detail, and a two-year service plan. They also promised a second key at dealer price and to leave the *** tracker installed. Then the nightmare began. It took me weeks and 20+ calls just to schedule the coating. I was told the contract didnt include ****** a buff and detail. I had to chase down the sales manager ****, which took another month and dozens more calls before he acknowledged what was agreed to. I finally got the service bookedthree months later. When I showed up, only the coating was done. I had to make a second trip for tint, detail, and key programming. The tint was fine, the detail was mediocre, and they "couldn't" program the key and they told I had to "speak to the sale ***** While driving to the sales office, I noticed interior damage (a missing vent flap). I reported it in person right away and was told it would be fixed and the key would be ordered. Neither happened. After another 20+ calls, I was told they wouldnt fix the vent or offer the key at a discount. The *** tracker wasnt even active, and the service manager insisted on removing itrude and unprofessional to the end. In total, I made 70+ calls, drove 8+ hours round trip, and still didnt get what was promised. This dealership is the definition of shady. ****** learned: Get everything in writingand stay far away from STG Auto Group.Review fromLarry B

1 starReady to get overcharged and bamboozled? This is your place. I checked out their listing in auto trader. I liked one of their cars and told them I would like to buy it. After they ran a credit check on me and dinged my credit, they sent me an invoice with $3,500 worth of clear coat and lo-**** charges. I said I didn't want any of that and to please remove it. They removed the paint protection scam but said the lo-**** could't be removed and left $1500 on the invoice.I asked them why it wasn't included in the original price. No answer. If they have a theft problem that's on them. Why should I pay for it? No answer. Why wasn't it offered as an option before they ran my credit? No answer.******This is where they completely crossed the line. They are supposed to disclose ALL charges to you BEFORE they run your credit. I never would have authorized a credit check with the added charges!!! Illegal? It should be!Used car lots in many places are pulling this scam to make a few bucks off of us. They lure you in with a competitive price, run your credit then add the sucker charges knowing that most people will pay it because they've come that far.Review fromPeter B

1 starAbsolute scam of a dealership. web price is not accurate. Will add on thousands of dollars to it in unwanted accessories including a hardwired GPS tracker. Leave a negative review for them and they will endlessly barrage you with calls and texts asking for how to earn your business. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.STG Auto Group

1 starI scheduled an appointment with *****, who claimed to be the sales manager, and was helped by **** and **** was my salesman. I test drove the car, asked multiple questions, and then talked about my finances in the office. Once I talked about my finances, I was debating whether I wanted to purchase the car in my head. **** went out of the office and came back, saying someone just bought the car with cash (which I didn't believe because STG Group is located in an area where people don't have money). Regardless, I was upset because that is bad, shady business. If a customer is already interested in a car, then you put that car on hold until that customer makes a final decision about whether that customer will buy the car or not.I drove 2 hours from ********* for disrespect. I'm originally from ********, and in ********, salesmen hold cars for customers who schedule appointments and don't let other customers purchase the car from under that customer.Review fromRobert G

1 starDuring my initial contact with ***, I inquired about a vehicle that they had on their website (Bellflower location) with a price of $24,995 with a red line through it. I thought it meant they were willing to deal, but that is their price. Once inside they come back with a quote which was $2k more. 1. $1000 for a GPS tracker (mandatory). 2. $495 for tinted windows (mandatory). 3. $495 for door guards (mandatory). I told **** I wasnt interested in any of the add-ons, but that he had to present this to me and that I could have them removed if I wanted.During my 2nd visit **** (sales manager) shows up and gives me the sales pitch. I asked him a pointed question, and he said these items were already installed and they cannot be removed, so I must pay the extra $2k for the accessory add-ons.**** told me that the tint was already installed on the windows, but there was no tint. The initial sales contact (****) told me that they cannot install the tint prior to the sale of the vehicle and that it must be requested by the customer, and to make an appointment to have the tint installed. I don't need a GPS, but it had to be part of the package. Must be some ridiculous mark up. A low-end GPS system is about $300. Last on the list are door guards. From ****** the door guards in question cost $178 from the factory. Even if the outside vendor charged $100 to install that it would be $278. Since they are listing the price at $495 that's a $217 mark up. In a phone call to **** I was informed that they have the items installed by an outside vendor. I will be going back this Friday (5/23/25) to see the invoice that he says they have. **** said he can provide me with the invoice of the items installed. I knew I should've walked away when they added the $2k in extra stuff.Review fromYVETTE F

The service manager agreed with the customer since her warranty is expired , we are going to help her do the repairs with an applied discount. Then the customer mentioned that she can't proceed with paying the full amount one time .
Then the service manager mentioned that *** will have a new financing company in place that can help the customer to have installment payments on their repairs and agreed with the customer that they can try to work with this one.
Unfortunately, the ***************** wasn't fully established at this time so the service manager offered the customer to pay half of the amount before *** can start working on the repairs and the other half when the work is done. customer was not happy and mentioned that how we didn't even start working on her car. We explained to her that since it is out of pocket service we can't proceed unless we agree on how the payments will go.
Customer has been updated through phone calls and text messages from her service advisor and all our calls are recorded and documented.
Now we are waiting to get the link from the financing company to send it to the customer so she can apply to see her acceptance with them first and then they can start with the financing plan. this will be done by the end of next week.
If the customer is not willing to wait until the financing company send her the link , then we can proceed with our other option is that she pay half of the amount now and the other half when the repairs is done.

1 starTerrible customer service. They didnt disclose that the car only came with one incomplete key fob. Promised reimbursement but now ignore all my calls and emails. Warranty was misrepresentedsaid it covered everything, but its only 50% parts and 50% labor. Completely dishonest.STG Auto Group

1 starBUYER BEWARE, BUYER BEWARE, BUYER BEWARE!!!!!I will start with the main reason for reviewing STG Auto and the worst part of this whole ordeal, I try not to give bad reviews but they are very deserving because now they are messing with my credit, which I have worked very hard to keep clean.Looking at my credit report, I found 8 hard inquiries from my one transaction with STG Auto, (1 on the day of my visit, 4 the next day and another 3 inquiries 5 days after I had signed my agreement). I'm now in the process of disputing these inquiries so they don't stay on my report for 2 years. In one day I had the most inquiries from one dealer than in the course of my life!!! ***? Can you imagine if I had chosen not to buy the car from ******* all started with an extremely terrible experience with the sales person *****, who had the *** look, Poor, Hungry and Desperate. He approached me in the parking lot, did not introduce himself until I asked him "who the f*ck are you?" when he tried to get my phone number. That should have been my clue to get away from that salesperson but they had the car I wanted and I simply needed to get to the deal. They have horrendous business practices. Regarding the deal, they added aftermarket products (some of which were not installed in the car), gap insurance and warranty, all of which I declined but it took over an hour to get them to comply by removing the add ons. A lot of weird back and forth from that ***, when they say "work with me" it means mess your finances with these unnecessary add ons. Despite signing over 20 pages of document, the copies I received did not include my finance agreement. I texted ****** *****, the sales manager. But it took another 2 days, 3 phone calls and two emails to the finance department to get a copy of the agreement. If they dont have the car you want, WALK AWAY. Make sure there is only one hard inquiry for the credit report!!!!!STG Auto Group

The deal was made on 03/08/25. No multiple inquires was submitted , The Finance team submitted the X=client to 1 Bank and due to the lack on the down payment and the negative equity on the trade in addition to the high credit card debit with low FICO scores, *** had to send the customer to 2 banks to get approval.
There was never 8 inquiries and all the accessories were optional to the customer and he was not charged for any.

Hi There,You are incorrect. My purchase at ******** was on 3/16, your "one inquiry" resulted in 3 hard inquiries on my ***ort. Duplicate inquiries occurred on 3/21 which resulted in a total of 6 hard inquiries on my credit ***ort. Only one loan option was presented to me which makes it even more bizarre, they should have told me about the other options so that I know that we picked the best. I had to come into your office to dispute these inquiries and was provided with a letter to contact the credit bureaus. Again, *** has HORRIBLE business practices - it took over an hour to remove the optional accessories because your *** kept arguing with me and leaving them on as if I wasnt going to notice, it was ludicrous. To be clear, I now have 6 hard inquiries on my credit and will have to go through a dispute process with the bureaus to have them removed - otherwise they stay on the ***ort for 2 years.Instead of constantly claiming that you did nothing wrong, look at the hard evidence and improve your practices so that no one else has to go through this c*** I certainly will never recommend anyone to do business with you.Review fromEric M

1 starThe worst car buying experience I have ever had and I have bought MANY cars over the years. These amateur used car salesman really undermine and insult your intelligence. During Christmas holiday 2024, I merely inquired about a used *** 530 series for sale at their ********** location. I was enthusiastic at first but when I arrived, things got weird. The origin contact was *****, one of the sales managers. However, I was greeted by ******. No problem. But he escorted to am office and briefly chatted with ****** for five minutes. He appears motivated to see me buy but then leaves me alone in the office for thirty minutes (very inconsiderate). Another salesperson shows up and introduced herself She had no clue or communication from the other two culprits and knew nothing about ****. She said she owned one which I didn't believe. She leaves the office pretending she was going to speak with ***** She never came back. In total 2 hours I was left unattended. I tip toed out in a hurry. It was totally improper and unprofessional. They called 1 hour later and didn't even notice that I left. ***** was an arrogant individual who brought no value or enthusiasm to the table I have worked sales in the past for years and it behooves me how badly their location is operated. Stay far away from ***. The fact that I excellent credit didn't faze these idiots. Two weeks later, I visited a very high end dealers in ******************* and left with a beautiful 2019 *** 530e series with absolutely No Money Down!! The Reddit and Yelp negative reviews are all accurate complaints. No shame in their game
