This poor quality of journalism is usually handed out for free, but they want you to pay upwards of $140 a year for the privilege of reading their drivel. Also watch out for the auto renewal. It'll triple in price or more after your first year and suddenly every article is behind a paywall. Bad journalism. Bad price.

Their plugins are decent but what really drives me crazy about Slate Digital's business model is their subscription platform. Their all access bundle includes all of their plugins as well as various third party plugins. After years of being a loyal subscriber, they decided to let go of one of their third party plugins (Scuffham S-Gear) so I had to purchase that one outright directly from the developer, no discount. A few months go by and once again, Slate parts ways with another plugin, a reverb plug that I had in 98% of my sessions. Both of these plugins I used SO frequently that I was forced to purchase them for full price separately AFTER ALREADY spending $15/month on the subscription for about 5 years. I'm not sure what kind of relationship Slate has with these companies to make them only be a part of the bundle for a limited time, but providing a subscription service for plugins that you're going to eventually stop supporting isn't cool. It's a huge waste of our money as subscribers and the entire point of using the subscription model is because many people don't have the money upfront. So when you ditch a plugin, you're screwing us on BOTH SIDES. Eventually, after I began making more money, I decided to purchase all the Slate Digital plugins that I have in my old sessions and stopped my subscription all together. If I could go back, I'd avoid this company at all costs. They've been a humongous waste of money for me. I've been a part of many other "all plugins" subscriptions and those companies stick with ONLY their own plugs, like a smart business would do. I'd recommend looking elsewhere. There are so many great plugins our there.
