I went to the ******** location in *******, for a clunking sound under my 2015 ****** Forester, the mechanic quoted me over $3,000 for the repair which was two broken arms, one on each side. I did a ****** to see what I should expect to pay, which was between $200 and $1,200 including part and labor Per component. I personally have a rule of thumb, if any repair is over $500, I get a second opinion. Sure enough I took it to a second shop, removed the sticker of Family Auto, so no one can verify the previous quote, and got a quote of $1,237. I even tried following up with Family Auto, to notify owner, this is no way to build a business. Of course I was not given the owners contact info. Glad I followed my $500 rule. Unless you want to pay TRIPLE or thousands more, AVOID going here!Review from Robert S

I took my auto in for a engine leak. Family Auto did a pressure check and found no leaks, they did tell me 2 hoses were cracking and shold be replaced. I had them do the work and was charged approximately ******* dollars. They said everything was great. 2 days later the leak started again and progressively got worse and was creating a large puddle. I called them and they didn't show any interest in trying to better the issue. I decided to take the auto to another auto repair shop. They ran a pressure check and diagnosed that the 2 heater hoses were leaking and have been for quite awhile. I had them do the work and was only charged ****** dollars including parts labor and diagnostic testing. I feel that the original company FAMILY AUTO SERVICE ***************************************************************** did not perform a pressure check , but claim that they did. If a pressure check was performed by them they would have found the issue with the leaking heater hoses.Review from Paul T

Had good experience years ago for oil change. Recently went for ****** mile check up, car having zero problems. Was quoted a price 20% more than dealer! Picked up car same day and within 10 minutes had warning lights galore and badly missing engine. Took car back, was told that spark plug came defective! ********************* thought that by drawing a picture of a spark plug I would be convinced he had no liability. After picking up car within 100 miles my brake pad low warning came on. When I returned, ********************* told me I was metal on metal with front break pads. When I pointed out that the work order from the ****** mile check up showed 10 mm pads, he said why would I miss a break pad replacement, I make more money! and they really only do brake pad inspections on request!**** called to apologize, but now I have zero confidence in them, and wont let them near my car. Honesty is everything to me in this business, and they failed big time. Buyer beware.
