      I was offered a residency position in a healthcare field as a doctor. As part of the job offer, I had to consent to a background check performed by HireRight and requested a copy of the report be sent to myself. Information on the report by HireRight was disclosed to the potential employer that was inaccurate, outdated, as well as sensitive in nature. I initiated a dispute with HireRight, requested to discus the matter and received an email stating closure without any discussion. I have filed a report of fraud with the *** and have retained an attorney because I feel strongly about this information that was disclosed. HireRight is trying to absolve themselves of responsibility by passing me onto the consumer agency whose database I am still in despite it being over 10 years ago. What recourse of any do I have, because they reported sensitive information that only licensing boards should have access to and understand. Clearly HireRight does not, or they would have understood how outdated their information was, and what a problem they have now created for me to deal with. They have access too sensitive information or databases they should not have access to.

      Hire Right is over charge for Back Ground checks. We have a package price with them. But yet we pay over $200 to $300 dollars a month for 3 to 5 people on a back ground check. This is what I do not understand if they ask for a Social Security Number. Why are they running address and names? Your Social Security Number has all your information link to it. When I called I spoke with a Rep and he stated that. If the name and the birthday came back with a hit. They will send request to the courts for the criminal record but the Social Security Numbers does not match. This is were the over charging come in at. They are also stated that people lived in and area but have never lived there. Because of there name and birthdate. Someone really needs to look into this because they are just making up extra charge to charge there customers. One background report can cost over and $100 dollars. To me they are price gouging. And they do not release background checks in a timely manner. People are trying to get hired to work. And it take 1 to 2 months to get a background check back. By the time you receive the background check the person you were trying to hire has found another job. And you business is out of the money you had to pay Hire Right for there over pricing and incorrect information.

      Currently going through a background check with them now. Out of curiosity I went to check the progress. Upon looking I found it has an address listed I never lived at, in a state I have never been. Everything is done on my background check except for this address that I never lived. I emailed them, they told me to call a number and file a dispute. I cannot get ahold of this company. They are available 4 hours a day, so I assume their phone lines are flooded the entire time. I have nothing in my background and I figured this would be simple so I already put in my 2 week notice. I'm incredibly stressed out right now and they are providing no help.

      HireRight has caused a delay in employment due to lack of qualified court runner. I was able to get my report for ** counties same day and HireRight has updated the complete date 4 times and failed to meet these dates. I have now lost wages due to their lack of professionalism.

      3/10/23. My employer contracted hireright for a pre-employment background check. Hireright guarantees 2-4 days turnaround based on what they have listed on their website. A week later and no progress has been made. I submitted all necessery documents such as w-2s and ****s as well as diplomas and transcripts. I called hireright to request a progress update. They lied to me and said they were waiting on replies from the court and previous employers. I reached out to a contact at the courts as well as my previous employers all who stated that they fill requests within 24 hours and that hireright had not submitted anything under my name. Hireright has lied to me repeatedly about the status of my check and has delayed my employment start date. This is putting me in a very uncomfortable position as I cannot afford to lose the pay.

There have been times when a person assumed HireRight was preparing their current report only to realize upon review that the report in question was actually being prepared by a different background check company.       On January 19th, I got a contingent offer from a company, based on my background check passing. I was told 2-3 weeks. On January 19th, I submitted the information to HireRight for the check and they began processing. I have never had a background check take longer than a week since I have a 100% clean record.It is now March 11th and my background check has been sitting at 94% clear since February 9th. I have called them multiple times. I get the run around each time. They say they are waiting for a criminal check in a county Ive never worked at or lived in. I have had ZERO communication from them other than the permission to run the check. I have asked every time Ive called if they need information from me. They say no. They say theyll request it to get escalated but nothing happens. And the company Im supposed to go work for, they cant do anything or bypass it. My start date was supposed to be in April but thats looking less and less like its going to happen. The mental and financial stress this is causing me is unacceptable. And I am very seriously thinking about legal action against HireRight. This is absolutely the most unprofessional background company Ive ever dealt with. They do nothing but lie lie and lie some more.

      I understand that you are not going to do anything to speed this along but I am going to reject the response based simply on this is the same excuse you give everyone who is delayed no matter what state. For me its **********, for someone else its ********, for someone else its *******. Every state isnt having the exact same problem at every courthouse. But if thats the excuse youre giving, I have no choice but to wait.

      Thank you for taking the time to respond. I would, however, take the time to reach out to the recruiters of the companies who pay to use your service and tell them to not say 2-3 weeks, they should say 2 weeks - 3 months. Because if you havent been living in the same spot for the past 10 years, some random person with traces of your social getting in trouble in the same state is going to delay. Luckily I didnt leave my current job yet but many have only to have your inept background system process completely stress them out financially. Yes its their choice to leave a job and in the end thats not on you, but people like me, with 100% clear backgrounds who have always passed job background checks in under a week probably just assumed theyd pass fast. This is the worst background check system Ive ever seen. And I do the hiring where I currently work. So I see Porters background system which only takes this long if the actual person has a misdemeanor. The actual person. Not someone with traces of the same social. Ive now spend $100 in the last two weeks running my own background checks on several different sites to see if it gets hung up anywhere and no, it doesnt. And i know better than to send those in cause Ive already been told you wont accept them. Ridiculous. This is a you problem. 

      Do better. Youre messing with peoples lives. Financially and mentally. 

      But again, thank you for responding and not fully blowing me off like your customer service reps do on the phone.

      You are correct that the problems among states do not necessarily have the same problems. In **********,one problem that exists which the others do not share in is an appellate court decision upholding the ********** case All of ** or None ********* Chapter vs. ******************************, Clerk. Because of this decision, ********** courts have been removing date of birth from online search portals and from public access terminals in court houses. Such has shifted enormously greater requirements upon court staff. As a result, searches requiring court clerk assistance in some ********** courts have been delayed. Unfortunately, while other searches completed quickly, this court is one that is experiencing delay. Your employer with access to the report has view to the notation made about the existing delay at this location.

      Background check that was started on 2/8 STILL pending after almost a month! Have had to numerous times and get nothing but a run around! Like others have said, they always claim it is everyone else and not their incompetence.

      I am on unemplyment benefits which are due to run out soon. I have been hired by a company that contracted with HireRight to do a background check on me. The background check was started mid Jan. ** is now Feb 24 and the report has been sitting at 93% complete. I've contacted the company a few times and am told they will escalate but the report is still 93% complete weeks later. I've had several background checks done as a Realtor and notary also with other employers and have never had this issue with anyone. I have reported back to the company that hired me but I'm sure they think there is something shady in my report which there is absolutely nothing. I'm told the hold up is an investigation in CA. A state I've never lived or worked in. My unemployment will run out and I will have zero income if this company doesn't complete the check. I may even lost this job. Please help do something about these companies. Thank you.

      The co Panay HireRight is doing the back ground check for my new job at ********** hospital. The concern I have is around the I-9 citizenship form. They require ssn valid ID and passport. All that sounds normal. The concern I have is with their requirement to provide the name and ********* info for a friend or family to log into their system and verify my I-9 form. How can they make me turn over info like ssn to a friend or family member?

      ****** me from graduating on trying to land an internship working for Vaso Tech. The test was taken on the 9th of this month and still pending. Not only was the company supposed to get the results by the 16th they never let Vaso tech the urine results.
