It all started with a knee injury in 1964 at college wrestling practice. Since then, Tom has developed stenosis in his lower back along with arthritis. He can only walk short distances without stopping to sit. Fortunately, If he sits or lays down the pain stops, otherwise it goes from a 0 to an 8. In an effort to fix the problem, he has had acupuncture, pain patches, CBD, physical therapy, ablation surgery, and laminectomy surgery, and now he is scheduled for Spinal Cord Stimulation.
So far he is just dealing with the knee. Some days are ok and some are not so ok. Tom got into the habit of not going out or just staying in the car while his wife shopped and ran errands. If he went into a store, he limited it to those with electric carts like Costco and the grocery store. That is until his daughter bought him a Comfygo scooter. Now he is free!
Tom proudly transports his scooter on a trailer hitch-mounted carrier, taking it everywhere he goes. He can go into almost any store, all restaurants, the park, and just about anywhere else. What a difference in the quality of his life. Now, he is dedicated to making mobility available to anyone who is mobility-challenged and also wants to experience the freedom he found.
